Thumbs up Bowden's Museum Cruise and Visit

Firstly thanks to David, Dan and Chris Bowden for inviting The XR Club up for a visit of The Museum and showing all of us the Wonderfully presented car's and very informative details about each one. And what more could one say about the awesome sound of The Superfalcon and The GT40.
Secondly a big thanks to Leanne Wilson who organised the day mostly on her own. It's having people like this on The Event's Committee that make my job a lot easier.
Lastly but not least Thanks to all the Clubbies that come along and make day's like this the pleasure they are. :

Jeff

Agreed Jeff,

All that were there would realise they have seen something very special today with such a great collection of "Australian Motor Racing History" Thanks to the Bowdens for also letting us grace such a beautiful property set amongst the hills of Buderim.

I am also pretty sure that the guys were quite chuffed to have the XR rainbow around the property too.

Many thanks to the very friendly and accommodating Bowden Family.

As all of the above. What a wonderful day. David Bowdens recollections of the cars and drivers going back to Group C made great listening.

Ditto to everything everyone has said above. Thank-you to the Bowdens, Shelby and Cobra included, we had an awesome day. Can't wait to rewatch the footage we took and have another look through the many photos I took.

Top effort to Leanne and everyone in the events committee, we've only been on 2 events(other then the QR round runs) and they have both been excellent. Looking forward to many more to come.

And to top it off, we called into the 888 workshop on the way home and I got to farewell Craig as he headed off on his trip to the Darwin .

G'day All,

I have just sent this email to the Bowdens this morning thanking them on your behalf. It was a great day and it wouldn't have come off without a tonne of work that was done by Leanne. She brought the idea to the table and made it happen, well done Leanne thank you.

Ken

G’day David, Dan, and Chris,

On behalf of the XR6 and XR8 Club of Queensland, I would like to formally thank you for your invitation to view your amazing collection of cars and also for the precious time you gave up to show them to us. Dan and Chris it is plainly obvious after watching and listening to David where your passion for cars comes from, not to mention your ability to string more than a few words together. I think everybody would agree that it is not a hobby to you, it is a passion.

Every Clubbie that I talked to during the day was awe struck and the sounds of the GT40 and Super Falcon will ring sweetly in everybody’s ears for a long time to come. It was also noted that many of the Club cars will be soon sporting a Bowdens Own coat of armour and super shine after the amount of your products that went out the door.

Again many thanks and we wish you all the best for the future for both your car collection and your car care business.

Cheers,

Ken Janson

Thumbs up

It was a pleasure to organize an event for such a great bunch of people. Wayne wants to go again just to hear all the stories from Dan again. Thanks Sue for your help at Toombul. Because you all were such a well behaved and respectful group Bowdens kindly donated a 'Bob' bucket of car products (worth a pretty penny) for the club to raffle. We will have tickets on sale and drawn at the Qld 300(details coming). So see you all there and thanks again from all the committee for another great day. Have a look at Don & Eileen Turners fabulous 1966 Ford Mustang GT Fastback. Thanks for bringing it along, it could have been parked in the shed with all the others.

Just had a fantastic day.
Thank you to the Bowdens!
Thank you to the club.
I found myself smiling and nodding all day.
How lucky are we all to have these unbelivable people at our doorstep to show us cars that we could only imagine seeing. Yet alone taking photos and educating us on how they came about and the lengths they went to.
I am just in awe.

Thanks again all. :

Just a reminder to those who have or would like to post photos of the Bowdens trip. Just be careful that any photos don't show shots of the shed doors or roofing. I think you all understand why. So here are some to wet your appetite.
Also if anyone is interested there is an Historical Car Meeting at Ipswich Raceway on 5th & 6th August. Kevin Bartlett will be there with the famous Channel 9 Camaro we all drooled over on Sunday.

Wow what a blast from the past. Does any one know if the black JPS BMW is original. I did the signage on JPS cars, boats & trucks in the early 80's as an apprentice. Good to see such an example still in existance. Now I'm really ****ed I missed it. I even had the opportunity to have Jim Richards take me for a run around Amaroo Park. And also Alan Grice in the Craven A A9X. Helps when your old man was director of advertising at Amitil/Benson & Hedges back in those days.
