Default Black leather steering wheel for B series.

Hey all, just bought a BA XT wagon and I'm after a black leather steering wheel, either XR or maybe Fairmont Ghia /Fairlane...must be in very good condition thanks.
Let me know what you have

I think I still have a NOS ghia steering wheel in factory wrapping and box. I'd need to dig it out but I'm not sure what you want to spend.

It does, and better than others I've seen on ebay - except it's not an original Ford leather.. Not sure what Linz is after exactly, but it might not fit the bill.

I realise that.

Want a great perfect wheel, get your wallet out.

I was lucky enough to buy 6 of these when they were cheap. Dye the sticking black, perfect.

I bought this today:

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-FG-...53.m2749.l2649

Nice silver buttons. Got plans for the wheel too, though the one on my car now is in even better condition.

Shame Linz probably isn't interested in an FG "upgrade" (I could totally set him up with FG buttons that worked on a BA-BF.)

Thanks Sam, but a new one would be more than I want to pay I'd say :(

Thanks Jason, I've got some nice silver buttons already that fit the B series wheel, so I'll stick with that one mate.

Where are all the Momo marked four segment leather wheels? I thought they were reasonably common?

They used to be.
supply is depleting.

I had one on my SX Territory ... bought new for cheap when there were a lot of them around.

Found a pic of said Momo wheel...

by Linz, on Flickr

I reckon it would look good in the wags, 'coz it's black and grey inside too

by Linz, on Flickr

Probably look better than in the ute that it came from originally

So the steering wheel arrived today. It's not the one in the picture on ebay, but the part I was most interested in, the silver buttons which are going in my car, are absolutely perfect unlike the ones in the ebay picture. Very happy about that and I've swapped over the spare buttons I had in my spares box (from my other "project") and will put these silver ones in my car tomorrow (it's quite a big job - damn it).

Now to the "bad" part, the top (and to a far-far lesser extent, bottom) "solid" leather parts of the steering wheel are sun-damaged. It's not terrible, and the perforated side leather parts are perfect.

So, if I may ask a question in this thread! Linz (and/or others) - if you were to find a B series steering wheel like this (keeping to the topic) is it possible to get the leather back to nice and shiny (like new) in the thin but long patch which is starting to go fuzzy?

I have heard of people using black shoe polish and some type of sealer, but don't know what it would be like long term...just don't even think of wearing white gloves

You could try spotting Leatherique with that question. Unfortunately some of their product fans have somewhat one-eyed enthusiasm (rather like another thread!) but the basic products seem good in my use of them. Whether they last in the most aggressive location of a car interior is not something Iíve experience with.

I'm not Michael Jackson, so no white gloves here!

The top of the steering wheel is also the least touched the way I drive, but this wheel will almost certainly never be put on my car. Just a spare. Mine has no issues at all after 7 years, but it's only spent a year or so in the car-park at work in the sun. That was about 4 years ago, before I moved buildings back to covered parking.

I can say, never leave a leather hat on the back parcel shelf. I liked that hat but those couple of years killed it.
