Default xy falcon gs

i have recently bought an xy factory v8 falcon rolling shell in pretty good nick (well... what i and others thought was just a standard falcon) it turns out it is a factory y code falcon gs. my plan was to build this to a gt replica, but now i am going to restore to it's originality as a gs. i was told that the gs is worth alot more than a gt replica, can anyone tell me how true this is and about what it will be worth on completion.
i paid 2k for the shell.

with the y code, it means it was a factory 302.

and yes, it will be worth a lot more done up as a standard xy gs than a gt lookalike.

Sorry I disagree

A well done GT replica can pull $40k to around $60k done properly

A factory Y code XY restored would be worth $30-$40k

A k code would be worth at least $10k more

Myself I would keep it as a GS but that is just me. What colour is it?

Hey Jack, awesome pickup (although i'm biased), at the end of the day do whatever makes you happy, it's your car.

In regards to value decide if you're building it to keep or sell, may help in deciding which way to go. If you want to keep it, build it the way you want, if you intend to sell it, build it the way you think most others would want it / most interest / best return.

Know of a GS Fairmont recently sold for 60K. (although I didn't see the money change hands so we'll never really know).

Out of curiosity, what colour?

Yeap but george how much do you have to spend on a replica to get it to sell for 40k....double that i reckon.

I think you would spend less making it a gs and get close to what a replica asks. Depends on colour and trim combo i guess.

Still a genuine gs is better than a rep, you can make a rep out of anything but thete is only one option to keep it standard.
