This is what Insurgents do when they receive a shipment of cars that don't have TOYOTA written across the tailgate.

Lets look at this for a moment...no kids in the front seat, you'd only get two infants in the back taking into account the need for a pram rendering the 7 seat function redundant, I don't think mum would have a problem getting a couple of children out the car.

Talk about a beat up!
Your ignorance is astounding!!! When there is an emergency of that sort the kids would be panicking aswell as any loving mum or dad. The fear of getting burnt, smoke inhalation or even potentially and explosion is a real and serious threat.

You obviously have no kids or if you do you should be reported to DOCS as you probably mistreat them!

Wonder if the report was the usual diplomatic reply from the Ford Dealer on the service sheet when they are too lazy to fix or examine a problem:

** Could not fault at time of test **

Not everyone acts in a retarded manner and panics in an emergency. Perhaps you do, but that's to your peril.

You must be a Toyota owner.

Um, if the car was having difficulties starting and random items on the car weren't working, warning systems in it were showing some safety systems were inoperable, why would you keep driving it?

Wow. You joined the forums just to attempt to slapdown someone with your self-righteous, faux-outrage for the children - "Won't someone think of the children!!!!!!!".
Calm down Gogi, given your first post was abuse I'd proffer that you may indeed be a HULK.

WRT to the Everest, I think by the very arrogant tone of the article, someone at news connected their own test equipment incorrectly. If they did, I hope Ford sue the pants off news.com.au

Prior experience maybe indicated that it was per spec. and until it went into limp home mode all was good. This is talking from experience.
If the bloody thing starts and keeps running and gets up to road speed without cutting out why stop?
Wish my circumstances were the same, Insurance would have given me a lot more LOL

I doubt it will be covered up .... as it is being sold worldwide ... it will hit the news everywhere. There will be a fair amount of scrutiny.

Ford Australia spokesman Wes Sherwood told News Corp Australia it was company policy to rely on insurers to investigate fires, even if a car is under warranty.

“When we receive a customer contact relating to an alleged vehicle fire, Ford’s established process is to refer the customer to their insurer as the first step as vehicle fires can result from a range of different causes,” he said.

“Our experience is that the insurer will then conduct an investigation and work with us if they believe the fire may have been caused by a concern with the vehicle.”

Ford says while it is continuing its investigation into this week’s Everest fire, owners of Ranger utes and Everest SUVs should not be concerned.

They've just finished bashing this incident on the today show. Asking how a faulty vehicle can win drive COTY when it's cruise doesn't work, it needs ad blue and catches fire.

A couple of things there..........

1# Is an alarm system standard on the Ranger “My daughter heard the alarm go off first — the car was locked — and then saw it go up in flames,”
If not could it have been faulty alarm wiring.

2# If Mr Dowling spoke to both Ranger owners (who Ford said to use their Insurance) why did he not contact the insurance companies to see what they found out as to the cause of the fires.

I guess investigative journalism isn't in his CV .

The cars we drive are ticking time bombs we have some of the most dangerous items known to man all in one enclosed box

items like

fuel
acid in battery's
electricity
some even have LPG

should not be mixed but car makers have done a amazing job keeping them separate but in today,s cars

it will be a minor design fault a ten or twenty cent part that has failed and will be sorted out till the next part fail,s

What's wrong with the cruise? I drove one for two days and it was fine.

From what I heard, both the Rangers fires were caused by aftermarket electrical accessories....
