Default Focus SA ecoboost engine 1.5L Dragon

Hi all,
First time experience with this engine.

Does anyone know what brand oil Ford uses? After one day been serviced by the dealer it’s already brown-ish. Is that normal?

My last petrol car was a 2.8L VR6 Golf and the oil never looked this colour so soon.

I know they changed the oil because I have video footage of them doing it.

From memory, the pristine golden syrup look doesn't last long. I can't tell you how long, because mine got serviced six months ago, so it's obviously not at its peak anymore. The sticker on the car says Castrol Magnatec Professional, and the recommended grade is 5W/20, so it will be pretty watery from the get-go.

The last car I had had a VW twincharger, and that darkened up pretty quickly as well.

My dealer used Valvoline 5/20 on its first service, but i have been having them put in Fuchs 5w/20. better than Valvoline, been in 6 months no problems. its approved Ford eco

Castrol is the official oil brand that Ford have supply contracts with. But i'm sure lots of dealers do their own thing.

I read Castrol did not have a 5w/20 for the eco 3cyl engine that met Ford specifications ( I thought it strange to), Fuchs, so I was told the original fill.

If I accelerate HEAVY on a freeway on-ramp I can smell something burning for a few moments after, not oil, coming through the air vents even though the air is on re-circulate.
Anyone else?

Castrol Edge I'm told, is in my car from locak Dealer 5W/20. Haven't had it for a month though, it was stolen and still waiting repairs. Never got a burning smell as yet.
