most likely 2 faults
indicators -check switch - globes -wiring/connectors
cruise control/horn sounds like a clockspring fault

Clockspring is what it will be. Had to replace these on an EF or AU one time. Steering wheel off job, but not too bad, just remove air bag fuse 5 minutes before you do anything, and all should be good.

this exact same thing has just happened to me.

how much is it likely to cost to have the clockspring replaced?

I was taking apart the switchgear, clockspring, etc, in my BF Tornado a couple of weeks ago.

No idea how similar it might be to your AU, but I took a bunch of photos that might be of some use.

well i replaced the clock spring.

cruise worked normally for about a week.

then the mrs used the horn... horn sounded sick then stopped only to randomly start up later on, had to disconnect the horn to shut it up.

now the cruise will only turn on while pushing the horn pad again.

seems like it might be the horn pad that's buggered.

does anyone know if there is any difference between series 1 and 2/3 horn pads? or can i use any.

there is two press buttons that slide into the wheel behind the pad , replace them and see how you go.

just a quick update.

picked up a horn pad/airbag from the wreckers for $30 out of an 02 model.
put it and and everything seems back in order.

i will see how it goes, as when i did the clockspring everything was working fine at first too.

i have my suspicions as to weather disconnecting the battery reset something and cleared it only for the problem to return soon after.
