OK, so iv'e got my new wheels, 17 x 7 ROH Strada's, but the question is what tyres do I put on them, I was thinking 205/40R17 size, anyone got any recomendations, Dunlop?, Falken?, Goodyear?, Nankang?, Yokohama?, Bridgestone?...........its a tyre jungle out there!!.......oh and did I mention I didn't want to spend the GDP of a small third world country, any suggestions or personal experiences with your tyres would be appreciated, thanks, Rob.

I would highly recommend Bridgestone Potenza GIII. I have these on current and they don't stop gripping, impossible to chirp 2nd gear even in the wet and cornering speed has improved too.
Rim guard will protect your new rims too which is a plus.

My BF Goodrich G-Force Sports were great on my Fiesta - loved them. They even had extra grip on the outter edges... great for cornering!
Um, I'd not go with Nankang or Falkens - from my own and others experiences Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3s are supposed to be good also

I've had both.... the Falkens rippled and wore through pretty quickly.
The Pirelli wouldn't hold on to the road unless it was fresh asphalt. They were quite pathetic. |

I reckon the ones in the silver box with the naked chick on it are good, they come in packs of 5 or 12.
EDIT: Whoops. Erm, Go for the Bridgy Potenzas... Great tyre. |

I'm with MrsFantz,
Stay away from Falkens. Especially on the Fiesta which loves corners.... the Falkens just get destroyed! I replaced two front sets after 18,000kms....

i had silverstones supplied on my car, i cant complain really 17" wheels for $600... they seem to grip well, durable and have good hard side walls, but are noisey, probably another tyre to avoid..

Oh yea, my friend has those on his Pulsar - avoid those too.
Basically, paying a little more gets you a much better/safer tyre. My Michelins for example cost a heap, and have a small tyre thread.... however they last long, are grippy and are great in the wet. Not too loud either! So yes - avoid the cheapos!

Just went on a nice cruise with Zetec20 up macquarie pass. I must say the Nankang NS-2s held them selves quite well but if u have worn out brakes like i did, u might just end up in a cliff face. like i nearly did.
Long story just that i lost traction in an S bend pounding 60-70kms car slid to both sides of the road (one lane each side). So i wont be doing that again especially with worn brakes. I do trust the nankangs but they arnt on my MUST buy list.

Well, to be honest Damo, it might have been the nan kangs...
I found the brakes on the Fiesta really crap when I had the falkens - ABS would kick in very early, and bite from them was quite minimal. Then I got the BFGs, and all of a sudden the ABS engaged later, and the bite was great with the brakes and tyres working together to pull up the speed. Macquarie Pass is a great drive though - something I do everytime I visit relos in Wollongong!

its a fine line, soft compound tyres grip well but wear fast, so its a matter of finding the right balance and look for a quiet tyre, as said before, mine annoy the hell out of me.....i had the falkens on my xr8,they worked well for mr but wore out fast, the fronts lasted about 12k... the rear considerably less, but hey they smoke hardl

on wednesday.$205 per tyre. pretty decent deal i think.
