Default AU Series 3 manual XR8

Looking for an AU series 3 manual XR8.

Blueprint and Narooma are the only colours considered.

Must have less than 200,000km and be well looked after and in excellent condition.

Let me know what you have

How much are you looking to spend if you find the right car?

Depends what it is mate, not going to put a price as each car is different. I can tell you that i won't be paying 20k for something though.

You are correct, god damn, at that price looked clean and wouldn't matter if you spent 5k fixing it up.

Thanks for keeping me posted mate, just subscribed to my own thread so I can get instant notification

Thanks mate, already spoken to him, won't budge on 15k, crunched the numbers and would be an 18k car after getting here and rego etc. Too risky as I can't actually eyeball the car, seen a fair few cars with those kms hiding some epic rust. If it was on the east coast i'd be there looking yesterday.

Hey bud that was me you messaged.
It has zero rust,no dents,it has stone chips to the bonnet and a couple scratches, thats it.
First thing I checked was boot struts for rust and under the parcel shelf
I know how hard it would be to find another one like mine in the condition and low km that's why im firm on my price.
I know you are after a factory manual, mine isn't factory manual, its engineered/permitted for the box change for insurance etc.
I ended up deleting my ad,just had so many timewasters.
Ill advertise it next year some time.
If you wanted it inspected and you knew/trusted someone over here (maybe from this forum)id be more than happy for them to check it out.

Hey mate, cheers for the reply. Yeh i'm looking for something original, unfortunately non original manual is a deal breaker for me.

Gumtree is difficult sometimes but surprisingly the last 4 cars i've sold have been on gumtree, just got to work out the serious buyers from the dreamers.

This is Tickford220s, not original manual, chasing all original.

Mods are fine, just needs to be original engine and transmission.

Found better than the unicorn

It's been an interesting hunt, I had many people message me and tell me no way I would find what i wanted for 15k. Lots of people wanting 20k for a low km XR8's, their car they can ask what they like but the market isn't there yet.

I looked at around 15 or more during the hunt and found the cars were either no where near as good as what they thought or they were too attached to the car and not actually interested in selling and wasting both our time.

In saying this, in the 4 years I was looking I only saw 2 manual S3 XR8's in honest condition come up for sale outside of my wanted posts on social media, gumtree and here.

Remember too, I was never looking for perfection, I was just looking for a straight honest car like my Compromise S3 XR8 is. When people are asking double than what i paid for the Compromise in much worse condition I was never going to do a deal at that price point.

I think in the future AU's will be very sought after, the prices may not go ridiculous but with the limited build number of the S3's especially in manual they will continue to be popular. I've owned a few performance cars in the last 12 years, BA XR8, VY Clubsport, FGXR6T, VE Clubsport and the AU for me is easily the most enjoyable car I have owned.

Agree with most of this but I'm curious on the bold bit, where were these manual S3 XR8s advertised for $20k? I have seen the odd Rebel or two close to that price but never seen one for $20k

The people that contacted me through the wanted posts. I had a lot of people contact me through gumtree and facebook over the period. Like I said, I was happy to pay 15k, but just never found one. There was one good one that had 18k on it, i looked at it and offered him 15k and he turned it down. I asked again two months later if it was still for sale and he said he sold it for 12k

Does that mean that you found it?

I've been hunting on and off for a while, now back on, I regret not buying a couple of S2 manuals, but I just love the S3 kit, I'm now considering clean Autos.
