Nursing requirements and skill levels have increased with medical knowledge and technology.

Old school trained nurses are simply old school.

Third world medical care is just what we need.
No it is not silly, it is the way the world has changed.

I'm not saying that nurses don't need training, but years ago they didn't need to go to university. I think you will find people are now more aware of medical issues that they were years ago too, do a google search on symptoms and you're an instant doctor.

The risk of litigation is a serious issue, ask any medico how much their liability insurance is and continues to rise.

A 71 year old investment banker trained "old school" would be a waste of time, that seems to be what you're implying.

I went the other route, I did a trade and also did extra schooling at TAFE while also doing my apprenticeship, now after completing my trade I've left to go back to full time school and I'm trying to enter university through climing the TAFE ladder, I'm pretty much one level out from university at the moment.

I think when you finish year 12 they shouldn't allow you to go right into university afterwards, no one knows what they want to do, what they are good at (besides school subjects) and a lot of people end up in university because their parents and careers advisors pushed them or the universities promoting all these courses trying to attract people into them even though they know there are an oversupply of graduates in that field.

Maybe get them out into the real world for a little bit first, get some employers to take them on in different fields as work experience kids or something so they can find out where their stengths are follow up on it rather than going a particular way on advise from someone with a vested interest.

As people know I'm a big fan of Ricky and unfortunately I haven't heard much about his visionary plans for the Aussie Motoring landscape, now this...

http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/fede...11-ggz3r9.html

Enthusiasts Party founders quit Ricky Muir's office

Ricky Muir insists his future with the Motoring Enthusiast Party is solid despite party founder Keith Littler and his wife Sharyn quitting his office.

Their departures mark more than a complete turnover of staff in the Victorian Senator's office.

He has lost eight people in less than 10 months and each senator is allocated six full-time staff.

Senator Muir is now faced with determining his stance on every element of the second Coalition budget with the assistance of just one legislative adviser.

Mr and Mrs Littler quit about a fortnight ago during the autumn parliamentary recess and have already moved back to Queensland. The couple relocated to Victoria to work as advisers to Senator Muir.

They did not return calls on Monday.

Senator Muir insisted there was no bad blood and the Littlers have not asked him to leave the party.

"There was absolutely no malice, everything was on good terms," he said.

"I still have a completely functional office. There is no problem at all with making the right decisions on the budget."

Senator Muir said the Littlers wanted to focus on building the party amid fears of a double dissolution election and the threat of changes to the Senate voting paper that would spell the end of micro parties. Prime Minister Tony Abbott has described the crossbench as "feral" and the government is expected to propose voting reforms before heading to an election.

Fairfax Media reported in November that there was ongoing tension inside the Motoring Enthusiasts office and Mr Littler repeatedly referred to Senator Muir, according to sources on staff, as an "oxygen thief".

The office went through months of upheaval after Senator Muir, on the advice of Mr Littler, sacked chief of staff Glenn Druery, the political operative known as "the preference whisperer". He was employed after orchestrating the preference deal that saw Senator Muir elected on a primary vote of about half of one per cent.

Political adviser Peter Breen was sacked soon after for travelling to the Byron Bay Writers' Festival while he was recovering from skin cancer surgery and off sick.

Before his departure, Mr Breen wrote an official report to the Parliament in which he outlined dysfunction in the office and a series of allegations against Mr Littler.
In his letter he revealed that at least one other senator - believed to be a South Australian Liberal – had made an official complaint about Mr Littler. In his letter to Senate officers, Mr Breen alleged Mr Littler displayed a "volatile temper, aggression, offensive language, inappropriate remarks about Aboriginal people, Asians and women".

Sources close to the party expressed surprise in March when Senator Muir delivered his inaugural speech but did not mention the Littlers at all despite thanking a long list of people including his five children, his brother and wife Kerrie-Anne.

The entire Victorian branch of the Motoring Enthusiasts split from Senator Muir less than two months after the 2013 election.

I have never been a fan of Ricky Muir, but can see he was thrown in the deep end without the proper training, maybe this is the reason I am not a fan.

But it seems that the original reason this was setup has been lost and forgotten a long time ago.

I watched as this party was created, and it seems all the hard work has been destroyed.

People are giving the independents and micro parties a bit of **** for being clueless.

But here is something, the pollies from the major parties just vote as they are told to. I called a few of my QLD senators before the data retention bill was voted on. One of them flat out said he knew nothing about it and will just vote along part lines.

So we have guys who may not be the brightest but try their best to understand and vote on bills and we have others in the party machine who do what they are told.

Who is the oxygen thief?

I've often thought that Mr Littler was a little put out when Ricky Muir got elected instead of the founder.
