Default Father's Day

Hope all Dad's here have a great day tomorrow.

Personally it's the hardest day of the year but I also totally want guys in a better position than me to really enjoy it.

What are people's plans?

It'll be the first Fathers day with out the old man.
We'd usually give the Cortina a check over together then head up the coast, listen to the golden oldies station on the AM radio, watch the scenery and boobies go by...

I'll be heading out with my new wingman, the father in-law tomorrow, we've still got a bit to sort out, namely his penchant for Holdens but I think the old 'Tina will win him over.
Looking forward to it.

Like RS, my first fatherless Father’s Day.

Old bloke wasn’t much chop as a parent but as he regressed it was like having a small child to care for. I miss tucking him in bed with his teddies and gently stroking his forehead to soothe him. (But I don’t miss putting him back in bed at 2,3,4,5AM or mopping the floors at zero notice…)

Will be emailing my former de-facto FIL upon the occasion, he’s still going and we get on quite well. If it weren’t for lockdown I’d try to pay him a flying visit.

My daughter and I used to love walking the dogs, cartoon movies etc

Last time I saw her in a Psych meeting for Court she cried and "scared of me".

So nah she won't be as she's been continually lied to by my Ex.

I love her regardless.

My son will be 41 in 2 weeks, not seen him since " it " ran off with another bloke in 1993, " it " was no big loss, my boy Evan was, but ya have to adapt and move forward, but I do miss giving dad a Father's Day gift, last one was a battery charger, in 1985, he was dead in 1986, but for some reason with me, Father's Day always seemed more special than Mother's Day!

Have no idea why, but I always felt like that, and she died in 2016, but always miss dad more than mum, oh well that's life eh!

But to all Father's out there, I mean good Father's not arseholes, hope you have a great day!

Cheers Billy!

My old man doesn’t know it yet, but we’ve ordered 10 pizza's to be delivered to his house at about 12.45 tomorrow. Prior to that, me and the missus will turn up for a visit at 10.30am, followed by my two sons and their partners, and their eldest granddaughter.

The kids (all now in their 20’s) should consume most of the pizza, meaning mum won’t have to make up anything for lunch, and they will both enjoy the company of their grandkids.

This is why Mothers Day is more important, when your wife orchestrates all this.

I feel for the guys in here unable to see their sons no matter the age for what is a very special day, sadly I lost my Dad to Cancer a few years ago, I still miss him and think about him almost daily.

I’ll be spending the morning with my little man ( not quite 3.) hopefully having a cuddle in bed before getting up for a special breakfast and playing with his Monster Trucks, thanks to the current situation in Victoria that’s about the limit of the days activities.

Bandit - sorry to read about the disappointment. I tried a lot of bonding activities with my father over the years, and like Harvey Norman “no interest” - can relate a little to your sadness.

Wasn't going to contribute here but your post hit a nerve.
I didn't see my dad either. I did call him but there is an underlying awkwardness going on due to me knowing information that he thinks I am unaware of. This info tells me he is doing the dirty on me and my wife which we are obviously not happy about. Its gonna have to come out sooner or later, it is not a nice feeling, but I fear the outcome will be a bad one. Not addressing it is putting that off while I continue to sit and stew about how he could do what he is doing. I don't want to admit it even to myself.

sorry to see fellas......
The mind boggles how people's minds work eh.

I don't have an out and out C of a Dad but his ol school stubborn mind set has been his undoing many times over my years.
He's been supportive but at the same time been a constant critic and I'm always right ethos from the day I was born. (I still love the ol 89yrs bugga)
Family gathering's he's able to flip it upside down with his attitude that peeez's you off greatly.
He doesn't even know how to be a happy go lucky Grandpa of 7 good kids, everything said has to have a purpose and reason.
My big aim is always to be better than him relationship wise with my 3 kids.

My 12 year old step daughter was here because it was our weekend and her father was more interested in it being his wedding anniversary weekend with his new wife then it being fathers day.
I didn't get so much as a good morning , much less a happy fathers day from my little ray of sunshine.
When asked what her issue was she informed me that I was not her father and she didn't have to speak to me.
This is the kid that I taught how to ride a bike because her old man was more interested in golf , took her fishing for the first time and taught her to cast and bait the hook , remember her favourite dinners and make an effort to have one each weekend she is here and used to remember the crazy taste in sandwiches she had for her school lunch and made them.
Even let her take ownership of my dogs when she is here.
Yeah it cut.
On top of being locked up in Sydney and not being able to see my old man it was pretty ordinary all in all.

Bt the way Tweeked, can let it go by that must be a cherished momento for you mate.
Nice to see.

Man sorry to read MrEL, that frigging sucks but having a 16yr old girl I can't believe how much I have to correct her in understanding the rights and wrongs purely on simple manners and etiquette, they learn nothing at school today.
12 is another painful age in this tech day and age, I hope in time as she grows up realise's how good a step pop you have been and let you know.

I've actually experienced the worst FDay in my life 29yrs being a dad.
Not the kids fault either but today is a new day.

Hurts hey, but remember she is (almost) a teenage girl. Few tough years ahead and when its done I suspect she'll pop out the other end with a lot more respect for you, and others. She's not seeing or thinking about the early stuff right now.

Well a got a well deserved short ban from here which I need to learn from.

I had planned a lunch for Sunday and then Dad comes home ****ed and tells me he wants me dead, disgrace to the family and so on.

So I sort of lost the plot a bit.

Needless to say Sunday didn't happen although they used my booking of course........

Hope those with better relationships with their father had a great day.

Cheers Merc
