Why would you bother? Probably be "six foot under" before they are worth being"collector item's"

I think if you want to make a bit of money out of a sprint the first 6 months would be the time. get it on the market while the want is still there, and when I say a bit of money I mean maybe 10k.

no, it is illegal to tamper/change any. the only time a speedo klm's can be changed is when your is unrepairable and a new one fitted and by law the correct k's must be put back on.

not so long ago Craig Armstrong, dealer principal of Armstrong Holden did just that and lost his license and his dealership is now gone.

The salesman reset it to 0? I don't think its that easy, and for good reason.

No, I am enjoying my new XR6 while I can, by the time it is worth anything I will be long gone.

WOW, over two pages since I was here last night
Maybe I will check this thread in ten year intervals, just to see how it is working out for some
To drive or store, many of us just wish we had the money and opportunity to buy one of the last Falcons.
I don't
Good luck to those that drive and enjoy them.
Even better luck to those that choose to store them to prosper.

Thanks to those who treasure their car for future generations to admire

I've just decided to buy another car for the work trips. Want to keep my XR8 long term and enjoy driving it every now and then. No point racking up km's on it to go to work.

picked up an FG MK2 ecoboost falcon. Perfect for cruising up and down the freeway.

Growing up there was always a falcon in the family. I learned to drive in one, and my first car was a falcon. Always loved them want to keep this one rather than wearing it out.

My 6 year old has also asked if he can have my XR8 when he is old enough drive.

He is into fords, whenever we are in the car, he points out all the fords, especially the XR8's and XR6's.

Not fussed on what it will be worth, it is what it is. I'm not keeping it as an investment.

Sorry, but my call on this is Photoshop. Unless it was physically picked up—literally—off the assembly line, a zero reading is impossible.

How are you finding the EcoBoost engine?

I agree you'd have to be in your late teens or early 20's to appreciate it being a collectors item, providing the plastics doesn't become brittle and start breaking off.

Look at the XD and XE they were around $10000 when new, what are they worth now after 30+ years....not much.

Or it's a photo of the tripmeter reading.

I actually pick up the car tomorrow morning. The test drive however was great.

If you didn't know, you would think it was the 6 only more refined and quiet.

Effortless no fuss performance. Felt more nimble than the 6. Will give more details after i have spent a week in it.

So i picked up the car on Friday. Its immaculate, inside and out.

Havana in colour. Its the base model falcon but had the optional prestige sound installed with colour screen and a pillar tweeters.

No loose trim, rattles, squeaks etc. Will be the perfect daily. Came with tint, mats, slimline weathershields, mud spats etc.

Gave it a detail on the weekend, apart from a couple of stone chips its unmarked inside and out. Also replaced the drivers seat foam as it had collapsed (common to fg falcons).

When i first picked it up on Friday i noticed a vibration when sitting at the lights in drive with the aircon on. In neutral it went away. In drive with aircon off it went away. It needed Fuel so i filled it with 98. Vibration went away running 98. I assume it had e10 in it.

Its fantastic to drive! The surge in power from 2000rpm is surprising, its really impressive. Without a doubt, its the smoothest, quietest falcon i have driven.

Excluding my Xr8, i would say its also the best handling falcon i have driven. There is a remarkable difference in the handling compared to the 6. It feels lighter than the size would have you believe.

If only people could get past the fact its a 4, Ford could have sold lots of these.

The ecoboost offers great performance and never feels like its struggling.

I reset the average fuel trip meter this morning when i left for work. The 70 km trip from Picton to Riverwood saw my average finish up at 5.9 litres per 100km. WOW!!!

Picked it up with 99,000 km, full ford service history, for $10k bargain!!!!

Seat fabric is not even worn, back seat and passenger seat look like they have not been used.

The spots on the bonnet seem to be some sort of reflection from my phone. Its unmarked.
