Default Back in a wheezer.

Yep, I'm back.

Series III AU XR8 Ute, manual, Narooma Blue. No other options.

Yucky nudge bar - now gone, soon as I got home it came off.

On the way - full herrods lowering kit, camber kit, full difillippo system inc metal cats, alpine sound system, brand new MOMO stuff and a few other tasty bits.

Pics soon - but it's good to be back behind a wheezer.

Good one Austin. How much you want for your "yucky" nudge bar? (PS won't be for the AU - I'll adapt it to fit the Territory)

yep, the good old argument of 220's in utes...!!
there have been stories of people having them, but I believe ford's records show no 220's in utes...

Correct. Some light reading for those interested:

http://www.fpv.com.au/theheritage/ut...itutility.aspx

http://www.fpv.com.au/theheritage/ut...50utility.aspx

From the second link:
"After June 2001, the 220 kW engine from the T-Series was fitted as standard to the XR8 sedan but this engine was never offered in the XR8 ute range. Instead, it was decided to re-engineer the ute for a special premium performance model that would form part of the new T-Series 5.6-litre range."

Whatever you'd be willing to accept. If it has all brackets etc, and is in reasonable nick, $150 to $200?

I know its from their mouth but I find it odd that it was ok for the sedan to have the 220 and then 250 but not the ute? Perhaps they were just running them out for the end of model.

Either way thanks, never knew that although now I think of it I have never seen a 220 badge on a back of a ute

Great to hear you're back in a pushrod Windsor, I smell serious mods in the future(built motor, charger....)
hope you enjoy it. Just curious why you got rid of the Boss ute?

Cos nothing comes close to an AU with a Windsor. Boss may have more power out of the box, but the Windsor is more reliable, easier to mod, and pretty much bulletproof, plus the Windsor/AU combo has character - isn't that right b2tf?

I agree just wondering what prompted it.
As a drivers car, it's AU+V8, that's why I want a T3.

Agree with you there JC. There is nothing like the sound of a Windsor at 5000rpm

Well done Aust, good to see you back in a AU, and a manual one too. Now lets start making you a list of mods. Im thinking AFR heads, ported intake, cam and a tune. Now that will put a smile on your face

Hahaha, thats actually fairly close.

The FG went because I a) am engaged so it made more sense to pay for the wedding etc and b) because you can't do anything to them without paying mega bucks for tuning. Funnily enough though I saw it again tonight with it's new owner who was passing through town - looks a little different now.

The AU will cop a fair bit of work but over a much longer period of time.

As has been stated it is not a 220 and no utes EVER got the 220 - nobody has ever taken up my offer of a free car if you can prove they did (I'll give you mine) so I think we're pretty right on that one.

JC - I've got the bar itself off but have to get the brackets off this weekend. Will also have a sports bar for utes with a brake light built into it for sale too. I'll take some pics.

This one actually has a rubber floor but from what I can see, I think they've installed it over the top of the original carpet so hopefully when I rip it out it will be under there and should be good as new seeing as it's never been exposed. Also needs some new console bits as the previous owner fitted a phone kit so a few holes in plastics etc - all easy fixes.

The windsor may not be the fastest engine but by god they sound good - the sound alone has convinced me I made the right move. The fiancee has finished that off too

Here's some photos of it when I picked it up:

The moment I got it home the nudge bar and the awful chrome strip along the rear bumper were taken off. Also removed the 'V8' badge from the tailgate.

The floor as I mentioned is actually a rubber one but I am hopeful there is carpet under there. Either way it's coming out this weekend.

Sports bars are being removed and full DF system including metal cats, along with SL springs and a camber kit are going in this weekend too. Can't wait.

Nobody likes a showoff

It is in really good condition - look past all the crap stuck to it in the photos and underneath it's a very nice ute. It'll be better when I'm done with it though
