Default AU 6 Cyl underdrive

From time to time I get PM's asking for Underdrive balancers for AU 6 cyl engines like the ones fitted to the BA-BF falcon 6's that net 9 rwkw in the N/A.

If I got the right numbers of people up for them I can see what I can do.

Please post up here if your into this idea, and let your AU mates.

A ball park number is *$10,000 for the R&D + a production run of 100 units, please let me know and they sell for about *$350 to start will.

Remember you may think thats not a bad profit for a small product, but look at the risk if you lay down 10 moneys and it dosn't work?

*All cost subject to change as required.

Let me know guys you've got the ball now so tell all your AU 6 cyl mates. Keep in mind theres no production at this time and I'm just looking to find out if theres guys out there that want them still.

Thanks Greg.

I'd like to see the independent proof of that 9rwkw claim. Call me sceptical, but there's no way that reducing the size of a couple of pulleys will net 9 rwkw. Given that the AU I6 is "underdriven" anyway (compared to previous models), I don't think you'll see anywhere near that gain.

I'm interested as I've already shortened the diff gearing by 15% so reducing the ancillary drive speed is worth doing regardless of power saving, just to cut wear & tear.

I'll just have to check that I can get a suitable corresponding pulley for the SC before I make it a firm commitment - that's one thing I don't want to underdrive :togo:

I thought a smaller SC pulley increases boost?

Which I'll need to offset the smaller harmonic balancer which by itself will decrease boost. At least I assume the underdrive just involves a smaller balancer rather than larger pulleys on everything else?

Thanks for the feed back guys.

I'd like to see the size of the AU balancer next to a BA one.

Over in the Bseries area the guys have been using these balancers for years now, and time after time the results comes in the same, 9 rwkw. Ive seen many of them fitted to BA-BF N/A falcons and one fitted to a BA XR6 Turbo, see Street Fords Mag May issue comes out on the 23rd.

As for results from a AU falcon who knows, I'd expect close to the same but untill one is off the drawing board and fitted and tested we'll never know.

As far as independent testing, for the BA Falcon 3 dynos used in 3 states Vic NSW QLD and all got the same result, 9 rwkw, not one dollar from Powerbond used in the testing these are the results from forum members.

At the end of the day I'll go ahead with the project as long as theres people willing to use the product. So please keep posting to let me know.

Thanks.

same here. Proven results will sell the product. i'd be interested if there is sound proof in what they will archive.i know they do alright in the BA's as a mate has em but you never know, something might work well for some models and not on others...

I'm sure this has been done before by Herrod or one of the other guys for AU's and it was determined to be not worth it. Your comment about the cars already being underdriven sounds like it was the reason. A search on the forums might bring some more info up....
