Post SA Police To Trial ZB.

"HOLDEN will continue its long-running partnership with SA Police – despite the wind-up of local manufacturing last year – with German-made cars rolling out as part of a new trial.
The ZB Commodore, with new fluoro markings, will be trialled alongside the Kia Sorrento, which was first used by police in January.
Assistant Commissioner Peter Harvey said the new cars would be used across the state.
“The intention of both vehicles is that they can be used in all areas of policing, including prisoner transport, road policing and general duties,” he said.

Mr Harvey could not say how much the trial would cost, or how much more expensive the new cars were than the previous fleet.
The six-cylinder cars will be on road for at least the next three months, and, while not guaranteed to be extended, Mr Harvey said they had performed well so far.
“We’re more than confident it will meet all our benchmarks but that is the purpose of the trial – to see if it meets both technical and operational requirements,” he said." https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/...d5131e37fcfa5c

I do think the ZB would make a pretty reasonable general duties vehicle, provided it's roomy enough inside. I haven't had a look at one yet but if they're similar in size to Camry and Sonata they'd probably work okay.

I think i seen a new one out today. If they are now going to dark blue instead of white. I know some of the VF's are blue but I wasn't prepared to rip up next it to be sure. In SA we aren't odd just different!
Sadly Fords werent big over here as police vehicles. Probably due to supporting local manufacturers ie GMH and back in the day Chrysler.

I get the feeling that Holden thought it would be a mere formality that the various Police forces would continue to purchase Commodores once the factory was closed.

Just like regular consumers, it turns out government organisations are looking elsewhere too now the the "buy local" thing no longer exists.

Hopefully for GMH's sake the police buy them as it looks like not many other people are.

If anyone was to ever get in a chase just send them through a series of tight turns

So.........Commodore "sales" will go through the roof then in S.A. at least .

Can't wait to see the Holden spin doctors on this .

Too bad Tasmania Police weren't getting them . Might be the only chance I'd see of spotting one .

Not one single ZB viewed yet ...nada.

Provided they don’t actually need to highway pursue anyone in a car with more than 2 litres.

Agreed - definitely not a candidate for highway patrol or traffic work. It could work as a general duty vehicle though.

Ive now seen the new ZB police car in the flesh! I was filling up my car at the local on the run servo and a fully decked out one pulled up beside me. I had a quick chat with the officer who said they "weren't a bad bit of kit". This one was silver and an awd unit.

Semi off topic, but what are we using these days to spot unmarked police cars?

Is it still the big aerials? Any other giveaways?
