Over $30K on road will be too much. I'll be out at that price.
Around $28K on road will see me in.

The Peugeot and Renault will certainly be above $30k.

So what are the alternatives?

On-road yes, but I'm not certain the RRP will be above $30k for the 208. The festiva will be $30k+ on-road by the sounds of it.

The ST is 2K less than either of those (in Europe at least) hopefully that bodes well for it's price in Aussie.

Looking at Ford Aus and their decisions over the past decade I feel they can only screw up the pricing.

Looking at the NZ price of this and the Focus ST $52,840, that's $45k for us, i'm thinking the fiesta will come in around $25-27k

If it does, I'm getting one in blue. I'd love to get white or black but keeping them clean is nasty. And can easily get lost in the crowd.

Does anyone know how "overboost" works? Apparently you get 20 seconds of it.

If the Fez ST is 25-27k in Oz, the only thing stopping me getting one this year will be lack of supply!!!

Peugeot 207 GTi had it in 3rd gear and higher. Basically it gives you extra boost for more torque when you boot it in those gears. I don't know if it is only available in certain gears in the ST, but limiting it to 20 seconds has been reported to be a non-issue because there's not many places you can legally or safely keep accelerating for more than 20 seconds. Especially in the higher gears.

Having experienced overboost in my Focus the above is pretty much spot on, its hard to use due to where is is located ie higher rpm. That said it is noticeable when you use it.

It wasn't really in the 207 GTi. I have driven a couple of those and as a previous 206 GTi180 owner it always left me a little disappointed. Of course the Focus has a bigger, more powerful engine, so it should be more noticable.

The Fiesta ST is a 1.6 like the 207 GTi with a similar peak power output, but it has better torque on paper and appears to get even more 'overboost'. It should be a great drive and one I look forward to experiencing for myself when I get a chance.

For me it would be blue or white. Never liked black cars and the red looks a litte girly to me - but I never really liked red cars so that's just mho.

Same, but my fg xr was in black and i loved it. Red is too feminine, but it's gonna be their hero colour so every dealer will have red as their initial stock.
I too was worried about white and black getting lost in the crowd of other hatches but with some nice wheels and tint it should look sweet.
Blue us probably my preference at the moment. I believe molten orange will look similar to the chilli (chill?) orange

Cheers,
Duke

The Chinese price is quoted here at 185900 yuan. This looks like $33,170 in aud at today's exchange rate.

In white it looks very clean and classy. The blue is surprisingly menacing! I like it in red, but I've got my heart set on molten orange. For me, a hot hatch should be over the top in your face!!

Very keen to see what the final price for these will be - if it's < $30k drive away, could definitely be a winner. I'm guessing demand will be strong though, so hopefully the local dealer will still be able to get a vehicle in for a test drive.

What power mods will be available for this model?
Or in other words, what were people doing with their XR4s?

Being an international model, the knowledge base will grow very quickly and great bang for your buck mods will come thick and fast. Have a look at what the Focus ST boys are getting up on FForums.
