While the basic Ford Six was code named Barra, the Turbo version clearly deserved its very own moniker – again enter Gordon Barfield.
We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about.
“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.

That's more like it, but wait, advertising does not help promote or sell cars right ?

You will have the Nanny Staters foaming at the mouth in convulsions, because it shows a car speeding with a noisy exhaust.
It will be forced off the air when 2 of them complain.

wouldn't surprise me. If you ever want a laugh, go to the ad standards website and search for Ford Motor Company. Some of the complaints are so stupid that you can only laugh.

People need to get a life, I am reading a complaint now about the raptor ad just for laughs. People take themselves way to seriously.

The Nanny Staters are still convulsing over the federal election loss, any advertising standards board should be defunded and the complainants given the middle finger if they don't like the ad.

Ford should have "Burnout mode" enabled on new Mustangs as well.

The new Camaro is going to keep it’s burnout mode. I wonder if the road trauma nannies will run with that story like they did when they found out the Mustang was going to get it? Ford removed it in australia because of the sooks.

Ahem, 2002 ->https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NG97IFn-sao

Ford themselves literally poked fun at "new regulations at the time which prohibited car advertisements from depicting speeding or other kinds of dangerous driving".

Imagine the complaints back then if people had the same kind of access to the internet as they do now.

Great ad, it's got a Mad Max feel to the setting, you hear actual muscle car exhaust note, get to see actual acceleration, and Tara Moss being the driver is a good surprise - shows the car's appeal way beyond the greying older fella image.

Well done Ford, your advertising is good! And well done too for keeping a RWD V8 after local closure, now there's Mustang and then daylight...

& here's a Ford ad that did it all really well, from back in the day
1) shows target customer
2) shows the strong selling features of the product
3) shows the product as dynamic and desirable. Ie, shows the car handling, manual shifting, corners, etc
4) adds a bit of New Order, always good

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDaLxN5FIjE

sure beats fingers walking over a landscape, oh how far they fell...

So I guess a 2 door coupe with no back seat and minimal boot room with a thumping great V8 that guzzles fuel like a Fire hose and rides on low profile rubber with minimal absorption over our Goat Track roads wasn't enough of a clue for ya....... you had to wait for the ad ?? ........

So glad you had your Missus to explain to you that the Mustang is not a practical car.

Were you going to trade your Avalon in on the Stang? Did your Missus make you keep it?

I finally saw this advert the other day, on YT - not having a telly.

What actually struck me first, was how "twitchy" the car looked as it raced towards the camera.
