Years ago a friend of my brothers has a HB torana (the original 4 cyl shitbox.
We used to pick the back wheels off the ground and he would hold it WOT in 1st gear and we then dropped it on shiny concrete...

It left black marks about 6 inches long and nearly stalled.

I can't spin the wheels from idle. 5.0 Windsor auto with 3.45 diff and 265/35/18’s. I can spin them easily when stalled. When the car was stock I could bag them up at idle on 215's.

I got as much wheel spin as the VYSS I raced yesterday - that being little more than a chirp. I managed keep ahead of him the entire time too... I don't know about those GenIIIs... there seems to be quite a variance in tune from the factory. Some are quite strong and others get beaten by a Fairmont.

Rollin has a story with regards to this…

the Ute wont turn the rear wheels unless the car is in full lock or its damp on the ground, or dirt. im running 235/45 so the traction is pretty hard to break for the old 6 pot in a straight line, especially with a tall diff.

A year ago, with the suspension all buggered and only 225 crap ziex tyres, it wasnt a problem.

Im happier now all that power is going to the ground instead of into smoke.

Ba xr8 with 6spd manual, you bet. Only problem is those Sp9ooo's are a tad expensive (18x245x40). Still fairly new so i haven't done any big smoke shows yet but jeez it'll be fun once i do, the Ol Ef xr8 used to fry both 235's at will with no regaurd for life. Lots of people were very supprised at the amount of smoke the old girl produced.

Note trying to take off at anything more than a gental pace will result in bags of smoke from the Ba, makes it a bugger trying to race people as you only get wheel spin.

no probs spinning here - but it is a 5 speed. If I take of soft and floor it at maybe 10k's or so it still chirps with 225's.

My older brother had an xa falcon 250 2v head motor and that thing lost traction from when you planted it or travelling at 60 kmph...a press of the accelerator at 60 and he would fishtail the dam thing!!!That is the quickest accelerating car ive been in.

No dramas here either, especially from 1st to 2nd to 3rd & a chirp into 4th.

At calder i do the burnout in 2nd as it gets heat into the tyres quicker without heating up the engine for too long. On the road it takes a fair fews revs in 2nd, but once spinning the rev limiter cuts in pretty quick

It's amazing how different the boss 5.4's are in cool weather vs hot, on a cold day the tyres will break traction at the end of 2nd gear in a straight line, but not when its warmer. The APS TT Monaro I had a spin in the other day would just about break traction in any gear!

EL 5.0 V8 + open diff = frustrating lack of traction. Mine spins the wheels from standstill easily. Too easily. I could launch beautifully if it would only grip. Got good Yokos on the car too.

I can spin 1st & 2nd and on occasions chirp 3rd in a straight line run. Sometimes it chirps when im driving hard but not trying to chirp it, but when im trying hard as i like it wont do it.

You start your burnout in 2nd, how does the car like that. I wouldn't of thought it would pull hard enought to bag em up from a standstill in 2nd.

Wonder if the APS TT Boss will be able to induce wheelspin in 6th.

How can you guys not spin your tyres? I can light up my dead stock EA with 2.92 LSD, 4.11 LSD, 4.11 open, 2.92 open and 2.77 open no worries. 5 speed helps.

any car with a manual transmission should be disqualified from this discussion :P

It's just too easy to do in a manual - just rev it up and dump the clutch. I mean, even the rental Toyota Echo (manual) I had once could light them up.

Too easy. Line up the Trabant, smother drive wheel and road surface in oil, get trusty mate to lift the rear up...build up revs...dump the asbestos lined clutch and viola... a 1 second spin.

In the wet, if I mash my foot to the floor it goes no where for a few seconds. In the dry.....no hope!

With my old shift kit I chirped into 2nd and 3rd.

205R14 tyres with a normal diff on the fairlane..

1/3 throttle on gas and she slips the drivers wheel... makes it hard pulling across three lanes of traffic in a hurry.. hehe ah well.

gotta love torque.

eb fairmont v8 auto tho, not even close... might be different in a few weeks(something about having a magical third pedal, and letting it up very quickly)
