Default 3.7 diff gears

hey guys i was thinking about getting 3.7 diff gears if my diff ever blows up but i dont no because i drive my car from werribee to port melbourne everyday so i need a bit of fuel economy. i was just wondering wat peoples cars revs sit at at 100 with 3.7 diff gears and wat sort of economy they have. and also are the diffs in the e-series very strong i no the lsd are pretty s#$t but are the diffs themselves any good.

Ive got a 5spd with 3.7's and sitting on 100km/h its about 2100-2200rpm from memory.
I havent lost any fuel economy at all, if anything ive gained some, where as the car used to sort of struggle in 5th at 80km/h(most of the time id have to leave it in 4th) now it just cruises in 5th no problems.
597km/h im on now from this tank, and its just hit the 1st fuel warning saying ive got 80km left.

Iv got 3.45 gears and in 5th gear at 100 i sit at 2100.

Im not going to bother with mine, but in your case you may as well get the 3.7 diff. Plus if your worried about economy an extra 100rpm on the highway is nothing really when your comparing 3.45 to 3.7

i am seriously considering this now has anyone got prices on how much it is to get done. a guy at my work rang up some places and the cheapest he got quoted for a full rebuild on a vs ute diff was like $880 which i think i a good price. it would be the same price for the new 3.7 diff gears i think because they put all new gears in it. anyway if anyone has any price it would be muchly appeciated. i would do it myself but i hate setting the preload and all that s#$t it takes to long.

But I keep changing my mind between 3.7 and 3.9
I need to go for a drive in two manuals with the different diffs

I've an auto EF XR6, not sure what ratio the LSD is... sits on about 2k at 100km... its sooo slow on the take off but u get to like 80 before it changes to second :P

I'd rather it launch harder and rev a bit higher I think...

geeze mate, how it happen? poly green panels are pretty common so you would most likely find a guard in the right colour at pick a part or jolly rogers...

It has made a bit of difference on launching, more wheelspin lol.

If you have 3.45's go for 3.9's, im wishing I did. With the 3.7's I get about ~4km/h less out of each gear, and it revs about ~200rpm higher.. doesnt sound like alot, and seat of the pants feel dosent really feel like much, but timeslips show you there is a difference.

Ive even told the diff place i'll be back in, in a few months to get a 3.9 diff.

Yep 3.9's or 4.11's with an auto but you will also need to fit a speedo corrector or the auto won't change gears properly

I do not know much about AU Flash Tuners but I was under the impression you can't correct the speedo - BA onwards you can

Speedo correct you can buy from JayCar http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=KC5435

or from Shiftkits
http://www.shiftkits.com.au/index.ph...products_id=26

I would go 3.9's rather than 3.7's - if you want 3.7's you may as well stay with 3.45's
