Question Engine swap?

My mate has bought an el xr6 tickford 6 engine and wants to put it into his 97 el,that has just the standard 4.0L so can he just straight swap without changing the ecu etc,cheers for any info.

But changing the ECU and the Fuel Reg to XR6 will improve more
