Default New Fiesta - how to tell if it has Safety pack?

My GF just called with with the news that she *just* picked up her Fiesta LX ordered with safety pack. Problem is there is no sign that the car has the safety pack - the main thing she was looking for was the "Airbag" tags on the front seats of the car like the Focus has.

How can you visually differientiate the safety pack to the normal LX Fiesta?

I believe it says something on the panel under the steering wheel above your knees like AIR BAG . Only the Zetec and safety pack cars will have that. I think there's something written on the sides somewhere too

So the car didn't have the safety pack even though it was ordered and payed for. No esp light on ignition nor airbag logo on the knee and seats.

Well done Ford.

They're gonna take a look at the car on Friday. Probably more the dealer's fault than Ford Australia. This is a second hand recount of delivery: she specifically brought up the safety pack and the lack of airbag seat tags; first staff member was pretty ignorant about the what the car had, and the second spent 10 mins convincing her by pointing at the battery box saying "there's the ABS module" meant that it had the safety pack.

Depending on how well things work out on Friday I won't mention which dealer because they may or may not be a site sponsor.

When I ordered a Fiesta Zetec at the start of the year (well I ordered it and the dealer then deceided to not apply my fleet discount and lie to me) there was a clause in the contract. From memory it said something like 'This dealership or Ford Australia takes no resposability for air-bags that are standard or optioned that are not present in your vehicle.' I was like thats crap, so he scratched that out along with many others. Check into it mate, maybe this dealer was just a shocker.

Thanks,

A bit more info, the dealer claimed that all the records Ford Australia gave about the car stated it had the safety pack. I had a look at the wiring under the seat and there is only the 1 cable going to the buckle for the seatbelt indicator light, not the 4 or so for the airbag module

Thanks Phoonfan, looks like Ford Aus's records are wrong, or the car does have the safety pack, but only has a single cable going into the seat base, has no ESP light on startup, no airbag logo near the knee panel and has no airbag tag stitched into the seat. Still the dealer should have checked these things - seeing you pay a stupid amount for dealer delivery and inspection.

Well this should turn out interesting, I'm sure if you order a car with a safety pack and pay for it then Ford have to come to the party one way or another

This is an interestign one. When I worked for a Mitsubishi dealer here in Adelaide, I always wrote the option codes fitted to the car in the service handbook. Having said that I'd never come across a car without a specified factory fitted option. The only instance that came close was a customer who's order was accidentally deleted by Mitsubishi themselves but Mitsubishi themselves were very quick to help the dealership and the customer at the time.

Plugging the car ECU into "the computer" it returns the values that it has the safety pack module installed, but does not have any of the actual hardware for it... Dealer is going to "talk to Ford"
