too many factors, you have to consider driver plays a part also.

here's one from a few years back, 302W Capri vs 302W Cortina, Cortina was about 100lbs lighter (3100lbs vs 3000lbs).

Cortina made 520hp Baker's engine dyno and 380rwhp on Gerry's Automotive chassis dyno.
Capri made 460hp Dave Handley's engine dyno and 370rwhp on Gerry's.

the chassis dyno runs were on the same day.

same spec C4 gearbox, fuel and TCE Converter

both car's go out on the same night. Capri consistent every pass 10.6@127, Cortina runs 1 10.8@123mph, everything else 10.9-11.1@123

Cortina driver is 70lbs lighter, jumps into Capri runs 10.8-10.9@126 (he had numerous passes that night), you'd think being lighter he would have run a little quicker.

Prasac interesting comparison, the Rhino and XT both on Gerry's dyno as well.

OK so not too far off max power, not bad for a street car.

Gerry's has always been good, we grew up around Sevo/Blacktown everyone would always took cars to Gerry's to get a genuine figure.

There are dyno operators and there are dyno operators. Gerry knows how to run a car up, you see some guys jump on the throttle and all kind of weird and wonderful things, also helps he owns a Ford, XT too so he must a be a good guy

I'm pretty confident of the engine making the claimed power. There is an issue elsewhere that we are yet to find. It will be a process of elimination. Car seems to 60 very well but appears to lay down at the top end. This dyno is owned by racers so if it was out it would show up in a lot of cars .

I don't know what the answer is but rest assured we will find it. Could be something as simple as fuel delivery.

I don't have a lot of experience in the drag department and neither does brad so any help we can get is appreciated. Lets work on solving this issue . Nothing more i like than to see an early ford run well.

Cheers,Russ

I would doubt very much that the carb is the issue. We may find a little by tuning to weather conditions but I don't think it's going to get us that extra mph we are looking for. To be honest we haven't done any track tuning at all and I mean zero. I haven't even pulled al plug. We probably could have pulled some jet out last time seeing as the conditions were like that.
Next time around I will pull a plug at the end of the quarter to see if there is any indication of anything going awry.if it is lean it should show up.
Be nice to have soverign there to help with that sort of stuff as he is the guru on what's going on inside the chamber.

I can put a wideband o2 in it just before he runs it again and then we can log the AFRs on a couple of passes

Seeming this conversation is about street vehicles i will give you 2 examples of similar weight cars.

Rhino XYGT 393 cubes 575 engine horsepower 455rwhp 4 speed 3.9 gears pump fuel 129.66mph

XTGT 363 cubes 430rwhp (on the same dyno as the Rhino) 3.9 gears C4 3600 stall pump fuel 127.98 mph

Neither of these cars make 600hp but you are making 640hp to run similar mph & Brad's is much slower with more hp? Not sure what you gents are using for calculators but track mph is the only accurate one. I have no explanation as to why you gents feel such high stall convertors are needed in your street cars with 393 and 427 cubes? Brad's XT is a well setup car with all the good gear so I cannot see any gains there.

Cheers,
Steve.B
Did both these cars show these times first time out?

And if not, did you question the dyno figures with them?

Did they change anything with the car or combo for any improvements from dyno to best track times?

If so are you willing to share anything done to help Brad?

depending on the calc moroso power speed
mr gasket calc or the one above worst shows 611hp best shows 635hp
mate my converter was spec d by dominator from my dyno sheet they wanted to go bigger but I held off
since then the box had an issue so convertyer was sent to tce to be cleaned because that's who my trans guy uses.
Dwayne called me and ask for the dyno specs again
he called back and wanted to make it 5500
we settled on 5000 im yet to run the new converter as the car is pulled apart for a full resto
im also stepping the engine up as it only has 10.5 to 1 comp and .600 valve lift
Im confident that when it comes back out on a proper prepped track itll go low 10s and mph will be in the 130/132 range
then its going on the bottle to reel off some 9s

Rhino has basically consistently mph since the engine dyno, manifold change from airgap saw a few hp on rw dyno and about less than 2 mph.

XT ran has run close to its mph since hitting track. The rw dyno was only a short time after it hit the track/mph , so no mods

Garret iv never really read your thread on blockers
But i'n the first place you said 8.2 deck 302 Windsor
Then i'n this thread it's 363 ci when did that happen ?
Just wondering as i was under the impression the little Windsor progressed to the et and mph above

2nd page last post corrects my typo about stroker, reading the thread most probably answers your question without taking this thread off topic

Ps nothing's changed mechanically since rw dyno figure to mph

Come on Garret, it ran 123 mph and 10.9 first time out, so what changed between that run and now..

Nugget if you want to talk about the XT do so in its thread, instead of taking this off topic, lyou have "moderated" me in the past for exactly what your doing now!
If you want to get technical why don't you post your 10.8@130 slip in the slip thread that you have updated with et/mph as per forum/thread guidelines?

But to answer your question simply and keeping it relevant to this thread BOTH cars being the rhino and XT were dynoed and raced afterwards unmodified to achieve the quoted mph oh yeah and when it ran 12ph it didn't make 438rwhp.

Very first pass it ran 10.95 @ 124.11, with mechanical fuel pump and different cam, cam was changed due to chewing a lifter.

You brought up your mates cars Garret, I was just asking for clarification on what I saw as wrong information.

I tried updating the timeslip, but there is no way to upload a timeslip over the old one, I even emailed it to a supermod and had him try to do it for me, he updated the times but it just wont do it for the slip.

And after a couple of years I dont even know I have it anymore, from memory it was a 1.7 something 60', about 97m/h half track, and 129.9x terminal speed.
