Default How do you get the freakin doors off a Mk1 escort coupe.

There must be some trick to getting the freakin pins out of the doors but I can't work it out. Anyone got the knowledge would be greatly appreciated!

No special trick. You have to soak them for a week with WD40 or such like. And you need a BIG hammer ...

Their are a couple of special tools to get the pins out. One is small tool which goes through the pin, you attach a small 'dog' to it and tap it with a hammer.

The other is a special 'slidehammer' that is really thin. The shaft goes through the pin, you attach a tiny hardened steel nut to the end and then just whack on it like any other slidehammer. You should be able to get either (or both) from a tool/auto shop.

Panelbeaters (which I use to be) use them all the time. Commodores have the same type of setup. Ask at a panel shop if you can't work it out. The guys will probably be happy to show you.
