Question Starting problems

Hi,

Has anyone had cold starting issues with their petrol Mondeo?

This has occurred on a number of occasions in the past where the car would not start first go or it would start and die. Last service (45k) there were no issues the dealer could find.

This morning on leaving home to go to work and it took a couple of minutes to get the car going. It dies about 4 times and was hard to start.

Car is an 07 petrol Zetec with 53k.

Cheers

Mine is parked in a garage and I live in Perth - what cold?
But on the few times I have left it out over night, no issues starting.

I am recalling a thread in here to do with Mondeos sitting still for a while, they were all having issues starting. Something to do with the injectors not being primed???? A software update fixed the problem.

Wondering if yours has had that done?
Perhaps it is related.

Others might know for sure.

I had an issue with the battery stopping the car. If you haven't changed it yet, might help.
Probably isn't to do with your issue, but it can be a bit of pain in the bum if the battery does die.

warren77, i am from Perth too. By cold start I mean the engine is cold, eg starting the car after it has been sitting for 12 or so hours. This car does on average about 600kms a week so its gets driven each day.

Last night I put the car in the garage and it started fine. This morning we jumped in the car and had about 4 goes at getting it running.

Its a bit of a concern as it might not start on us and knowing my luck it will be in the middle of nowhere on a weekend.

There are alot of things that can cause this. as im sure you would know my tips would be first, use 98 octane fule, make sure filters plugs are not warnt out, a dirty fule filter can cause this as it can take to long for the system to prime up so then the injectors are squirting a ******** spray into cyl. dirty injectors have a injection service or give ur car a good 1hr flogging high speed high load can sometimes help. if none of this helps then i would say there possibly is a ecu/ sensor issue. also blocked pcv systems can cause it especially vacume controlled systems ( i dont know what system ur car uses) one last thing is the idle actuator/throttle body which again im not sure if this car has one or not hope this helps a bit.

It's definitely a fault. Mine starts first time even if it's covered in ice! Is it still under warranty?
