Default Escort Mk1 Dash Clusters

Hi All

Hope you can help me identify a couple of very dusty dash clusters I found packed away in the garage, I believe both are from a Mk1 Escort, one I believe is a "GT" cluster, but not so sure on the other cluster with 140mph/8000rpm values? Any help would be really appreciated!

Cheers
Andrew

Thanks for the info guys, after a bit more research, i found this on the types of dash's found in the Mk1 Escort

http://www.classic-ford.org/cfp/tm.aspx?m=44289

  • The 1300XL, E, GT & RS2000 had the 6 dial dash with 130mph speedo & 7000rpm rev counter
  • The Mexico, Twin Cam & RS1600 had deep dished 6 dial dash with 140mph speedo & 8000rpm rev counters.
  • Up to 1970 the volt, battery, oil & volt guages had those word written above each & after 1970, symbols were used!
  • Some works cars used 9000rpm rev counters that are VERY rare!
  • In 1973 the Mex and RS1600 went to the same 7k rev/130mph instrument style as the RS2000.

1st one is a 1300 or 1600 GT dash. I had one myself once.

The one with the woodgrain is probably a 1300GT from NZ. Points are the red line at 50 km/h and the km/h speedo. UK cars had miles. Worth a cuppla hundred on a good day, it's not that special.
The black one is a genuine twin cam Escort and is worth a lot of money. Think of a number and double it, you will get someone to buy it.
