Sydney Swimming in Stingers ?
I have seen one on the road since release and that was the one quoted in my earlier post.

Its funny seeing the emotion coming out amoungst posters and understandable.
Our Falcon is no more.
Mustang is our go to Ford hipo product, for some in reluctance but its 2door.
Stinger the new Asian kid on the block that challenges mind set past to present is 4door.
Got to move on fellas, it is what it is.
The game has shifted big time.
At least their is a sub $60k 4door give or take option for anything else is towards triple figures and much more.
The dick comparo is just as useless as it was comparing our 4door Falcon to Mustang.
Apples oranges.
Good on Kia imo even though I won't be a shopper at this stage.

No dick comparos. Just clearing some facts that got muddied by a cleverly staged drag race video a couple months ago. Reading some of these posts makes it clear some swallowed that vid hook, line and sinker.

I honestly don't know if it truly reflects the safety of either car or the failure of the ANCAP rating system.
The ANCAP system is so fundamentally flawed, it has zero relevance. When modern day idiot gadgets contribute to whether a car gets a greater score, it's time to relegate it to the history books.

The yanks (caranddriver) managed to get the Stinger GT from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, that's bloody quick.

American journos have got the 2018 Mustang GT auto down the quarter in 11.83. That's bloody quicker.

What's the Stinger do it in, high 12's?

2018 mustang.

Has done 0-100 In 3.8.

I don't think people realise what has been done in this new gearbox.
It's not the number of gears doing it, they now have some seriously good electronics.
Awesome fast changes and a traction system that seems to work as designed and a torque system to keep them on song.

I wonder where that 4.4 came from? Best I've seen in Australian reviews is 5.1 iirc.
Shenanigans methinks.

The 2018 Mustang is a new beast I'm bit curious how it turns out here. Still the comparison of Stinger and Mustang is not really useful, true both are rear wheel drive that's as far as I'm concerned .The Stinger is what it is, full stop.

Best i've seen is Caradvice, they got 4.8sec to 100km and a quartermile in 12.79 seconds from a Stinger.

One Variant in one of the U.S models it is AWD and they get a TEN year warranty.

Another interesting fact is my old game boat was called Stinger and had a scorpion on the front
Secondly have found a drink of the same name
Stinger is made up from
Ice
2 ounces cognac
1 ounce white creme de menthe
Twist of lemon peel
May just belt a couple down this weekend.... Cheers

I hope it's cheap cognac (brandy)

How good are these warranties though?
I can see a lot of answers like "They all do that" or "Sorry wear and tear" being tossed around.
Like every other manufacturer they have to make money.

I ask myself, where's the shortcut?

Here's the link to the KIA warranty in general terms. Specific details have to be downloaded from the right hand column.

https://www.kia.com/us/en/content/owners/warranty

This is for cars through 2017.

Hmm.

Lots of get out clauses it seems.

And correct me if I'm wrong but the way I read it, the car must be serviced at Kia to the exclusion of all others?

IF something is going to go bang it mostly happens very early on in my experience.

I have to be honest. i didn't read all the details. However, what I saw struck me, kind of the way you described.

Different manufacturers have had similar warranty's in the past and they also, had some guarded language. I guess if anyone is going to get one of these warranty's, they need to fully understand it and live by it.

Normal wear and tear, and normal deteriation, are exclusions that make a warranty claim pretty hard to enforce. The Kia 10 year only covers drive line components, that aren,t subject to wear and tear conditions,so what is the warranty really worth?

The stinger designers have probably never seen a falcon.

Oh, that Doug demuro review like most of his was excellent, all the little things that matter rather than half an hour talking about why it's 2 tenths quicker/ slower than another car.

I'd say the car design community is very tightly knit, and designers world wide know exactly what's happening globally.

Hence Mercedes Benz ripping-off the AU Falcon's tail lights a few years back.
