Another holden might catch fire recall

HOLDEN is recalling more than 26,000 examples of its Colorado ute and family SUV — almost every one sold in the past 18 months — because they may catch fire. Holden has issued a “stop delivery” notice to dealers and is urging Colorado owners to bring their cars in for rectification work after five customers experienced “thermal incidents”.
The models affected were made between September 2013 and January 2015.
The latest safety bulletin makes Holden the most recalled car brand so far this year; last year Holden had the equal highest number of recalls with Jeep, with each issuing a record 14 notices.

Different engine in the D Max so the wiring would most probably be arranged differently.

Just a minor issue.. But is it isolated just to Australia where the climate is hotter and possibly no real testing conducted here.

It's not climate related it's dodgy QC.

Also it's hot everywhere not just in Straya mate, weather is not even remotely an excuse!

So either PFMEA or DFMEA or both has failed. Not to mention operators on the assembly line not picking up an unfused high current positive cable making contact with a bracket (chassis). Looks like these issue will be the norm as more South Korean cars badged as Holden reach our shores.

I have often done recalls for power cables relating to retainer clamps or routing. Dealer campaign reworks are far more common.

some of the older recalls was due to the fact that vehicles in OZ often will get a pounding compared to others-Or the wiring terminals are not up to the job of current loads.

unless the design is done pre production most large volume assembler cant rework even known problems. I been told its easier to do the reworks post production as it comes from a different funding method.
