Default Skid Pan 2017

Hi All,

The club is interested in running a Skid Pan session with Fifth Gear Motoring for members.

Depending on how many members wish to participate will dictate whether we book a half or full day session. For maximum enjoyment/time on the pan Fifth Gear suggest no more than 10 people per each half day, so that is a maximum of 20 slots available for one day.

Usually these sessions cost $165 per person but the club is looking at subsidising this cost, depending on how much interest there is in the event.

Here is a link to Fifth Gear's website for your information: https://fifthgear.com.au/course/adva...idpan-training

Some information on Skid Pan sessions from the website:
"These half or full day Skidpan-Drift sessions are a great opportunity for individuals and groups that have the passion to play to GET THE PERFORMANCE EDGE, but who realise the public streets are not the place to do it.

The skidpan we utilise is located at the Sutton Road Driver Training Complex, located between Canberra International Airport and Queanbeyan, approximately 15 minutes from the centre of Canberra, 2 ½ hours from Sydney, and easily accessible from the Federal Highway.

The skidpan is a kidney shaped purpose built circuit. The surface is smooth concrete which, when wet, becomes very slippery.

The skidpan will not damage your car. The surface provides very little traction, meaning it won't wear your tyres. The area is surrounded by high grip concrete, meaning you won't come off the circuit. Fifth Gear Motoring only allows two vehicles on the circuit at any one time, meaning you have plenty of room and little chance of colliding.

All vehicles must be registered as this is a requirement of the training facility."

Their available days in June/July that we have free for events are Sunday the 25th of June and Saturday the 8th of July. The session will either run for half a day or a full day - the morning sessions usually start around 7-8am.

If you are interested, please post up if you're available on the two dates.
It is important that you let us know if you wish to participate as the number of participants will determine if this event goes ahead, what date it's on, and how much it will cost.

If anyone wants to see what it's like on the skid pan, here is a link to photos from one I organised last year for Capital E-Series.

Usually fifth gear even allow spectators to ride in cars on the pan if they sign a waiver.

Hi All,

Subsidised prices for club members only will be $155, and Fifth Gear Motoring is holding the 25th of June for us. I will send and email around to make sure everyone who is interested knows what the plan is.

Otherwise, is everyone in the list so far happy with the cost and date?

Cheers,
Celeste

I'm happy with the cost and date. Would really encourage everyone to come and have a go. It doesn't hurt the car beyond getting it dirty and is the second most fun you can have in a car!

Ford Falcon BF Egas Wagon on the skid pan!: http://youtu.be/J3DXjNECAP4

Even my egas wagon daily is a huge laugh on the pan with its BTR auto, 157kw and open diff. I'll be bringing my XR6T again this time, I guarantee you'll love it.

Ok guys... here are some pics.
Apologies for the delay here. I thought I would be tricky and give the photos a tidy up with a crop here and there before posting but as the pics are only from my phone (and I stupidly used digital zoom in the search for better pics), cropping only increased the 'grainy' look.

Nicole and I were spewing that it never occurred to us to bring the SLR camera. Some of the photos would have been awesome in hi-res.

Have had some issues with uploading here too, so lets hope we end up with some view-able photos posted.

Cheers
Mick & Nicole

I have about another 9 decent photos but it seems I have exhausted my photo quota.

Ok so lets try this.

I have hosted all of my pics from the day.

Will add Nicole's later. If a few of you could report back to confirm you can see the pics. Be sure to try and download any pics you like.
I probably won't share these ongoing so please take what you want before I take them down.

Cheers
Mick & Nicole
