Bit of a shame, really. The current Fiesta is 9 years old, and the new generation needed to be here yesterday, yet Ford are seemingly dragging their feet.

Ford Australia bound by what happens in Thailand? Is the factory over there ready to build the next gen Fez? It also wouldn't be smart to talk up next gen ST when you've got a boatload of the current one to move.

Fiesta is a dead duck thanks to powershift transmission and low light car sales.

It seems like Ford is going to let it go here.

Seem to see plenty of Fiesta ST's around Geelong area, and a few of the regular Fiestas...

I think it's time Ford gave up on the current generation. It's nine years old, its fit and finish and technology is not as it once was. Sure, it's still best in class for driver enjoyment, but that alone doesn't save it when a lot of people care more about Android Auto than driving these days.

New generation has a much more premium look, especially in the cabin, and new technology, which could win over buyers.

Light car sales may be low, but what also contributes to the Fiesta's performance in the sales chart is the fact that it's an old car now. Ford needs to bring the new generation here to give the Fiesta a fighting chance. I think the new Fiesta certainly is the best looking car in the segment, and might very well be the best car in the segment should they launch it here.

I'm very tempted by the new Fiesta ST and would seriously consider getting one. But it needs to be here first.

I'm sure Ford Oz are champing at the bit to get the next gen (of any car in their range) to our shores asap, but the reality is they have to keep moving old stock until the next model arrives or the stock is cleared)

The previous (first truly global) Focus arrived a little late, meaning the LV had to soldier on and bridge the gap and IMO this is what's happening with Fiesta (but I could be wrong)(hopefully not)

I agree.

The Fiesta name, like the Focus and EcoSport, has been severely tarnished by the whole Powershift debacle. Its reputation in the market is poison to the Ford brand and as such it appears as if they have given up on it. At the end of the day Ford are much more interested in selling, like other brands as well, overpriced body on frame dual cab pickup trucks at massively high profit margins.

Put it this way, if Ford were serious about selling the next gen Fiesta in Australia, they would have already started ramping up interest for it by now. The silence on it is VERY telling.

Nothing that can't be cured by the introduction of an all-new generation, in my opinion, provided that they're marketed correctly.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha............

Ford marketing a product successfully other than Ranger, that will be the day!

Seriously though, the new Fiesta would be a great way to relaunch the nameplate but as I said the silence is deafening.

I wouldn't call it a nothing car, I have the ego sports and it's a great little car and cheap to run. Have no problem cruising at 110km on the freeway. It's perfect for a second car or little run around, even drove it from Adelaide to the Gold Coast through flood waters and never missed a beat. Just a shame some people think all cars should be a show stopper V8 that can run rings around a F1 car..
Not having a go at you just sticking up for my little car lol.

What a beat up story, making out that Ford Australia is so far behind in announcing the new Fiesta that it won't even be released here.

Its just started production in Europe.

This. The Fiesta is a ripper of a car, and I'd get one over a Kia Stinger any day of the week. There's more to what makes a good car than the wheels that do the driving and the number of cylinders it has.

I'm confident that the Fiesta will be here, but the question is 'when'.

Can't understand why people think it will be here right now when it hasn't launched in Europe yet, goes on sale next month I think. When we get it here will depend on when it starts production in Thailand.

Fiesta vs Stinger? You do know what a Stinger is don't you? Fiesta has a terrible reputation thanks to the dual clutch auto. Ripper of a car I think not.

G'day , Fair enough.I'll take your word for it seeing you have one.
I'll rephrase it. It's a car I'd never even consider. Sorry..
Maybe 'nothing' car is a bit harsh though.. Genuinely pleased you enjoy yours.

It looks like the new gen Fiesta launched in Europe no longer has a PowerShift option, the new UK brochure only lists manual transmission and automatic transmission.
The problem is Ford hasn't announced its availability in Asia-Pacific and North America.
