Default Ford to start reproducing AU Falcon

Quote:
‘Restart AU Falcon Production’ event gains massive attention

A Facebook event that started as a joke now has thousands of ‘attendees’

“Let's make some damn Falcons,” is the call to arms decreed by the creator of a Facebook event called ‘Storm the Old Ford Factory and Restart AU Falcon Production.’

It started as a joke, but now it seems the event is set to become at least something, given it has more than 8600 people who have clicked ‘attend’, and over 20,000 who are ‘interested’.

Hosted by a meme page called Succulent Chinese Memes (after a viral video of the arrest of a man charged with not paying for a “succulent Chinese meal”), the event’s focus on the AU Falcon doesn’t seem to have come from nowhere.

Ford’s most divisive model features regularly on the page, and we’ve contacted the admin to see if there’s any real connection… or if it’s all just for laughs.

“To be honest when I first made the event, it was just a bit of a laugh,” the admin for the page (who goes by ‘Blake’) told us.

“I figured it might get a little bit of attention and be forgotten about. But before I knew it nearly 30k people responded to it.”

It also seems event ‘attendees’ are attempting to organise a meetup of AU Falcons on the day of the event – September 14 – at Ford’s Broadmeadows plant, though whether it will be able to go ahead is up to Ford’s policy for groups of public cars being parked outside its building.

“There seems to be a running theme in the comments of holding an ‘AU muster’ there on the day,” Blake says.

"So now I'm thinking seriously about heading down there on the day to hold said AU gathering. There seems to be a lot of interest in it."

We’ve contacted Ford Australia to find out what might happen if a few dozen AU Falcons do actually show up on a Saturday and are awaiting an official response.

My father in law has a ‘67 Camaro, my old man has a ‘69 Mustang, friends have some vintage Euro cars that are worth a bit. All I want when I have a garage especially for it is an AU series 2 or 3 Fairmont Ghia 5.0.

the only issue is that AU owners are all strapped for cash and can't afford to travel from all over the country, maybe we could get a "storm the local ford dealer"

p.s. AU owners are not as tight ar$ed as E-series owners....far out! anyway that's another story

If you think about it, when the factory is stormed and the Govt caves in and makes it a project of National Emergency to re-make the AU (don't forget your yellow vests) - it will be about 1 year before production starts, and a 2020 AU IV Falcon will then happily last until 2050 with original drivetrain and unopened motor.

Also I'd like an AUII Fairmont Ghia in Galaxy with the SOHC VCT motor, while I'm at it. As a coupe.

i'd go for a AU1 forte with some more modern touches and in Narooma Blue
like sync3, oh and a 335kw miami with 6sp manual
as much as i like my intech and btr auto the 335 would be a little more fun

keep the grey trim and maybe 17in steel wheels to fit over the brakes

i call it the AU Forte Sprint

I can assure you this AU owner is exactly as tight a'd as this E series owner...

And if they are restarting falcon production it would OBVIOUSLY be the EF/EL series

Yes that's when they went to the cab chassis, and why falcon ute owners now pay more to use tollways than commodore utes

Yes, such a stupid greedy practice by Eastlink and Transurban. I don't use my ute on tollsways unless I cannot avoid it.

Its put the Falcon ute off the list for my next daily because I'll double my tolls cost driving to and from work - I already give Transurban $2500 a year driving to and from work.
