Definitely on the priority list on mine. Went for a country cruise with a mate, he has a BA II XR6 T

and mine AU II Ghia. He's just had all his bushes done. Anyways we swapped cars for a leg of the drive

and holy moly what a pleasure the BA was to drive, so tight like it just came off the factory floor, even

better. I really take care of my AU but this is something I've definitely over looked.

Guys another quick question.

I remember a few years ago on here a few guys were having trouble with CV joints breaking - but I think it was only from drag racing.

While I have everything taken apart, is it worth putting in new half shafts while I'm there?

SuperPro have just finished a development run of new upper irs shock mounts, I have a set on order and will be planning to get them installed asap. They are in all respects a reproduction of the original, but with a flexible polyurathane rather than rubber. I'll get some pictures up as soon as I lay my hands on them.

Interesting in seeing what they are like. I have a set of Sox mounts that are pretty much exactly that.

Went to get the fairlane wheel aligned today and have the rear camber bolts fitted as mine never had them , only to find out that the upper inner bushes and the upper outer bushes are fishnickered , NOBODY IN WA had anything on the shelf can you beleive that *****. So i ended up with the upper inner bushes being nolathane and i believe the upper outer bush will be a super pro bush, not ideal as is a mixed bag of brands . but had no choice at the time , Are the nolathane bushes that BAD in the rear of the car ???, as it will only be the inners that will be nolathane , or am i going to have dramas with them.They haven't been fitted yet hopefully they get some super pro bushes in overnight and i can return the nolathane ones It's a daily driver lowered to tickford specks with munro gt gas shocks all round

Nah you'll be right with the nolathane bushes. Super Pro are certainly better, but You'll be right.

Well finally got the car back this afternoon , had a chat to the technician that was doing the bushes and a couple of interesting things have been learned. At 16 yrs old and having done 226k i was not surprised to see that bushes were needed, all upper arm bushes were fishnickered . But what is surprising is that the inner upper bolts for the arm on the left side WERE NOT TIGHT AT ALL , right was fine , starting to wonder if this car has been smashed at some point?? , anyway bushes done camber bolts fitted and wheel aligned and now all good MUCH better to drive but not looking forward to the bill tomorrow

couple nolathane bushes wont hurt, but dont do the whole lot youll regret it!

Which Rear Sway Bar do i need?, The Whiteline one on their Website is 20mm?

im pretty sure thats refering to outer sway bar mounts on live axle, i have seen them crack on live axle cars,
not irs as irs swaybar is mounted to the cradle and rear lower arms

I'm fairly certain that Whiteline no longer make a rear IRS swaybar.

Regardless, I got a KMAC item in 20mm. KMAC will make you one on an as ordered basis.

Signature sway bars will do a 24mm rear bar

I think GKN (Unidrive, Vic) manufactured and supplied them to BTR (ION,DSI) back in the day.
I used to visit the Albury plant when it was known as ION/DSI, now no more since the chinese bought the company and shut it down. :(

Unidrive is still around for now making parts mainly for Toyota and Corvette prop shafts.

Did you like the car when you picked it up? How did it drive etc and if you don't mind saying, what did it end up costing & have you listed all the bushes replaced? Be great to hear how you went as I have just purchased rear mounts, struts & springs for the rear of my au & I am sure there will be bushes needing replacing.

Most likely.
I have a 20t press and it rarely goes over 2-3t.
It's been up around 8t a couple of times.

Having said that, my 20t unit was only about $100 more than that on Ebay, with a pneumatic attachment.
