Mate give it a rest.

You go looking up Wikipedia specifications for performance.
I've actually had these out on the roads.

Have you?

Estimated at $80K with a 2L 4 cylinder, good luck.............

https://www.carsales.com.au/editoria...uary-7-110372/

Blue Oval’s first Ranger Raptor will pack a potent new 2.0-litre diesel

The cat’s out of the bag: Ford has just confirmed it will stage the world debut of its hotly anticipated new 2018 Ranger Raptor super-ute in Bangkok, Thailand on February 7.

No other details will be made available before the big day, when full technical specifications will be announced, but we understand the hottest ever Ranger will be powered by a potent new 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel.

But before you go lamenting the lack of the US version’s six-cylinder petrol engine – likely to be a version of the F-150 Raptor’s ballistic 331kW/691Nm 3.5-litre twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 – it should deliver more performance than the standard Ranger’s already-lusty 147kW/470Nm 3.2-litre inline diesel five.

And it should also come standard with the new 10-speed automatic transmission -- with low-range transfer case -- Ford has co-developed with GM.

Whether it matches the current torque benchmark -- Volkswagen’s Amarok V6. powered by a 180kW/550Nm 3.0-litre turbo-diesel that propels it to 100km/h in just 7.9 seconds – or indeed next April’s new Mercedes-Benz X 350d, which will pack a 190kW/620Nm 3.0-litre V6 diesel, remains to be seen.

Ford began the official countdown to the Ranger Raptor’s reveal in September, when it revealed three teaser images and a video of it being thrashed in the Aussie Outback.

Back then, it described it as “a purpose-built, desert-racing inspired pick-up truck” that will deliver “a level of capability and off-road performance never before seen in the mid-size pick-up truck segment”.

The hard-core ute is loosely based on the redesigned 2018 Ranger, which we expect to see at the Bangkok motor show next March and is also being developed right here by the Ford Asia Pacific product development crew.

However, it will bring a new level of off-road capability to the Ranger’s Aussie-developed T6 ladder chassis, which will also underpin Ford’s born-again 2020 Bronco SUV.

As we’ve reported, Raptor upgrades should include a version of the Everest SUV’s multi-link rear suspension with coil springs, a much wider wheel track, ground clearance of up to 250mm, four-wheel disc brakes and chunky 285/70 R17 BF Goodrich All-Terrain tyres on blacked-out 17-inch alloys.

The beefier chassis will necessitate an all-new tub to go with the new-for-2018 cab body, but even this will wear chunkier a chunkier bonnet and front quarter guards, and of course a more aggressive grille, bumper and LED headlights.

When it goes on sale in the second half of next year, be ready for a price tag of around $80,000.

WOW amazing.
I have heard like 150kws. Hold on to your hats.

An $80,000 performance model should have a lot more power than an extremely average powered work ute.

I have a strong feeling this "Ranger Raptor" is going to be lame.

A Raptor is supposed to be a large bird of prey.
I bet this should be called a "Ranger Peacock" All about the show.

Sure reworked suspension is nice, but without the power it's lame.

I'll be happy to be proven wrong.

Be lucky to last 100k wringing its neck in 'baja' mode. This will be a massive disappointment if estimated stats are proven true. Nothing but a show-pony, unfortunately.

I’m sorry, but a 2.0L diesel in a Ranger isn’t going to be much of a thrill. At best, it’s going to be “peppy...for what it is.” You will always have to throw in the disclaimer “for what it is.” You will be trying to impress your friends. They will respond, “Is this a joke?” You will always have to defend its mediocre performance by telling them it’s only a 2L diesel under the bonnet.

When are we going to get a 2.7 or 3.5 EcoBoost Motor in a vehicle down here?

They can park them next to all the four cyclinder Mustangs in the importers paddocks to collect spiders. 2.0L four pot is really out of touch with your customers.

Don't fall asleep watching this Video. Yawn.

It looks like the Raptor will get the new 2.0 EcoBlue Diesel that is fitted to the Transit.
Looking around online it suggests power could be up to 140-150kw on the high performance version.

$80 big ones for a 4cyl diesel that supposed to be a performance rig . No thanks I'll pass.

What a waste of awesome suspension.

It won't be a Raptor more like a Gecko.

Minimum it should have is a Coyote and the 3.5 Ecoboost then it would be what it supposed to be.

2L twin turbo diesel producing about 150kws in 4x4 that weighs over 2t. Don't need to drive it to know that's very average stats.

Amarok was released with a 2L twin turbo diesel. It was fine, but VW realized that many items buyers want a decent size engine so they released the V6 TD.

From what I have heard they are selling more V6s these days than twin turbo 4s

I don’t know, I actually think it will be a hit now. It doesn’t need to be a rocket to be successful. Honestly, as long as it has better throttle response than the laggy 3.2, they are 90% of the way there

The rangers are a runaway hit, this takes the existing formula and improves what already is a very good vehicle

Even if that was the main reason for the V6 now in 2017 they sell the I4 and V6 side by side and from what I have heard private buyers are buying the V6s. Even though they are more expensive than the twin turbo 4.

Yeah........nah. Drive one instead of rubbishing it based on the number and you will be surprised. I have owned one for coming up 3 years now and will happily buy another over the equivalent Ranger.
The V6 isn't replacing the 2.0, it is going alongside it. You can still buy either brand new.

FWIW, the only way I would buy a Raptor is if it were a V8,and if it is they will price it out of the market for most buyers anyway. So off to another VW I go.

Yeah, a current V6 Ultimate will set you back around $75k. Way more than I'd ever pay, but a Sportline V6 is under $50k now. Getting closer to the mark for a lot of people and with a tune they effing hammer.
