they didn't show if the tail gate popped back out when they took it off the ramps .
in any event its six of one half a dozen the other, being stiff has advantages , but being flexible also has advantages, both have effects on ride , traction, handling,
if you look at any old scrubbers or heavy trucks with stiff rails/non compliant suspension when they get hard miles on them , often they have stress cracks in the chassis and body.

That's true in a general sense, but I don't think that's the primary reason the 70 series has only 430 Nm. People are considering the 750 Nm in the new Cummins 5.0 as "conservative." In fact, they are using that Cummins engine for large school busses and class A motorhomes. A 70 series is a gokart in comparison. I don't think the 4.5 is an amazing engine, the 200 series has two turbochargers and still has only 650 Nm.

Keep in mind there are other parts of the drivetrain that may not be able to handle more than 430nm. Diffs, gearbox, transfer case and even the chassis - its a 30 year old design remember
Plus more torque than that on those skinny factory tyres with no traction control or stability control could be a bit dangerous

Then why not save $$$$ and stick a 4cyl turbo diesel in it?
I really can't understand the touble of fitting a V8, turbo, intercooler for those sort of figures.

Because Toyota already have a small 4 cylinder Ute, the hilux. Toyota have always supplied commercial vehicles with a conservative tune. Google gturbo if you want to know what can be done to these motors.

There was a 4 cyl diesel landcruier. muched loved locally in short wheel base as a off road fork lift. lot of cheaper machinery these days to do that job.

WHY A Turbo v8 Diesel-listen to it drive past.
And have enough grunt to pull a tandem axle trailer like an mini digger.

I service a fleet of RFS Cat 9 and these are over powered and the sumps a mess.
