Is there further breakdown on Ranger 4x4 vs HiLux? I’m assuming Ford retained lead.

aware that the '17 Car is now superseded by a much improved unit arriving later this year.

Ranger still sold a credible 3400 odd in December with most buyers again aware of a new
model arriving later this year.

Given Ford's 2017 results in the US, they could care less about car sales now,
everything is now truck and SUV sales taking 77% of all sales there.

It's clear that Ford Aus is not concerned with low sales of cars and SUVs, they only
care about profit per vehicle sold, ROI is the commercial couch potato's best friend,
just order what vehicles people want from other plants, deliver, job done.

I just think that once MB & Hyundai get their respective Utes going,Ranger is going to have a fight on it’s hands.Cheers

That's interesting, a lot of the competition in the $75k>$85k price bracket unless fleet sales ?

Also dual cab Utes everywhere. Seems to be attracting everyone from single guys, to families to older farmers.

Around here most people who had Commodores and Falcons have gone to the dual cab Utes and SUVs such as kluger.

Looks like anyone who is replacing a sedan or wagon isn’t replacing it with another sedan or wagon.

In the area there is even a new Escape with a big bull bar running around - it replaced a Camry.

Must have had a bad december cause it was 2nd at the end of november. Hope you haven’t included the c class cause that’s from the over 60k segment according to vfacts, not officially the same class as mondeo.

No, only the under 60k segment, its in the link if you're intertested.

It was actually 5th in November with 211 sales behind Camry with 1913, Mazda 6 with 364, VW Passat with 360 and Skoda Octavia with 231 and is only 1 unit ahead of Octavia for 4th place in December.

But as you so politely told Whales, dont let the facts get in the way of a good story..lol

No rangers in the wa wheatbelt.
No dual cabs at all. Most run around in single cab utes, mostly rodeos.
But the family prados are being replaced with Everest.

Just what I'm seeing here.

Sedans have disappeared because you can't get anything new and suitable. Ie rwd.

Mondeo only sold 138 in December, you kind of wonder how they justify keeping it around. Endura can’t come soon enough.

Fiesta 93, Focus 454, Mondeo 138, Escape 319, Everest 417. pretty grim numbers, thank goodness for Ranger and Mustang.

Half a dozen dual cab Rangers sitting on the new car lot to go with the half a dozen Mustangs that have been sitting around for a while now and this is only a small dealer so its quite likely that the figures for these two are not as genuine as they seem either.

Dead right!Mustang(in my humble opinion.) is only ever going to be a passing fad, sales are starting to flatten out.Their once high sales for this vehicle where never going to last forever. Most dealers seem to have them in stock(mine certainly does.)Cheers

The 2018 Mustang has a lot of changes that buyers are really wanting,
so it's understandable that the sales numbers are starting to wane as
buyers begin holding off for the new model. FOA has enough inventory
to "get through" to mid year when the new cars are expected to begin
RHD production..

Ford is continuing to replenish stock and maintaining about 1,100 cars at dealerships,
I think new year sales could crank a little lower but that will suit Ford stretching out inventory.

NE Vic.. Just my local observations.
Newish VW Run-a-Mok and Entrails SUV's, out on the freeways its still predominantly new BM's, Merc's and lots of Mazda BT / Rangers dragging caravans.

This is in no way a scientific study.

Thanks for the observationbns, I'm sure many here would have similar experience de=pending on regional differences..

What frustrates most of us is that Ford really hasn't built on the good work of Ranger or Mustang,
they simply want the low hanging easy fruit in sales that requires the least effort for them.
Now that they have ended local production, there even more banana lounges coming out...
Sell 150 Mondeos? who cars, they all make some profit...Yeesh, it's like arguing with a dole bludger.

Ford will pass on numbers to sell at solid profits. The numbers of private sales that ford are getting now is very high, and usually high end models. Profits will be very good atm.

They have moved on from gm’s numbers at any cost, who cares about profits tactic. Hyundai, Mitsubishi and Nissan also go after numbers. Although Nissan are trying to change, and Hyundai have tried to with the new i30, and failed. Sales of the new model are down about 30% after they dropped the under 20k drive away pricing that made up 80% of the previous models sales. They have just introduced an even cheaper decontented base model i30 to sneak the price down.

Were they registered? Sales are only counted once cars are registered.

What would be interesting to note would be sales % increase/decrease in all Ford models for the 6 months following Falcons demise.

Then, using that information as a fact, estimate what GMH's sales figures would like applying similar logic (%) to all there models post the commodore era.

18' will be an interesting year on a few fronts for sure.

Why oh why can't Ford Aus bring themselves to call the Edge "Territory" instead of that god awful tyre name..
Territory has so much positive cache with buyers, using Endura is like starting at ground zero with no credibility.
I mean, didn't they learn anything from Escape-Kuga-Escape?

Its a tricky situation. One hand you have a new name with no market recognition, meaning effectively starting from scratch.

On the other, you have a new Commodore situation whereby previous Territory owners will savage the new car for not being a true Territory successor, ie no petrol/no 7 seater/no rwd biased platform ect ect.

Edge would have been a perfect name, sadly the Endura is going to be battling the stupid name thing from the outset and probably overshadow its true worth.

Perhaps an admission it won’t compare as well? The original Territory broke all the moulds. What will Endura do?

I think the general consensus among some here was that Ford should leave the Falcon and Territory names to die with the vehicles themselves rather than drag them on into the future ala Commodore.

To me, it is just a name, for continuity sake and brand reputation I think keeping Territory name would have been fine.

I have recently returned traveling +5000km’s in Outback Queensland, NSW and South Australia and saw zero Everest and zero Ranger. Mostly Toyota Landcruisers, Prado’s, Nissan Patrols and Mitsubishi utes. Everest with its 80ltr fuel tank is next to useless touring the bush.
