Hi everyone, i'm wanting to put a 351 clevo into my mk2 cortina and just want to know if anyones got any info on this conversion or have done it them selves?? Any help/advice would be much appreciated. . . Thanks matt

This may not be helpful but I have a 351 Windsor in a TC (1974) that I'm looking to sell. I have seen Clevelands in Corty's before and I'm buggered if I know how the guys do it. The Windsor is tight enough!

Beofer you start, check with your Rego authrities. I heard at the event last weekend that new V8-into-Capri builds is a bygone era, apparently in NSW and ACT.

I think it's very unlikely you can do this conversion any more in any state. Definitely not in NSW.
I can't remember the exact tare of a MkII but I think it was about 1050kg???? In NSW the maximum engine capacity (naturally aspirated) for a car which was originally 4 cylinder and up to 1100kg is calculated by this formula ... original tare mass (kg) x 0.183 cu.in. So for 1100 kg that is 201 cu. in. Now if it's over 1100kg or had more than 4 cylinders when originally built the formula is ... original tare mass (kg) x 0.294 cu. in. So if the car was say 1200kg then the max engine size is 351 cu. in. So you better hope the original tare was 1200kg or more. The original tare weight will be what's on your rego papers. It is the manufacturer's dry kerb weight if you have a specification sheet for the model. PS I've just found the weight - you're stoofed. Only 922 kg Last edited by T3man; 28-10-2010 at 09:02 PM. |
