Default Ford couger key coding

Hi there, I have just purchesed a 2001 ford couger, the car came with a genuine ford transponder key uncut,as a spare, I got a aftermarket key from a locksmith which workes , well now i tried programing the genuine ford spare with the 2 keys following the directions of the handbook but it won't work.
Any help wood be nice.

Hi Did the locksmith program the car to suit the key he cut or did he just copy your key because if he just copied you key it wont work as you need 2 different keys to program a third not one key and a clone. Cheers MD
