Default XA Superbird Resurrection

My 11 year old son said to me "Dad come you gotta see this"

I watched it with him, and I must say I got a bit emotional.
If the person of interest is a member here, I would like to congratulate you on a brilliant job .... what great deed you did for your parents.

Just beautiful. Amazing how attached we become to inanimate objects such as our cars.

I've wanted to do similar for my parents but after 10 years trying to track down their old XA I don't think I'll be successful. No sign of the car at all.

I did however manage to buy back the XA's original number plates. They're currently fitted to my XR8

Not much gets me emotional these days, but boy, there was a lot of pollen in the air just now when I watched that.

When the old man came out, that was it for me. I lost my Dad to cancer in 1999, he is the reason I love Ford motor cars and especially the V8 Falcon.
Thanks for the post.

Back in the early 80's my old man gave his immaculate XY Fairmont to his ex Wife when they finalised their seperation, unfortunately she didnt keep it very long and traded it on a Chrysler Scorpion of all things, just took it out of spite.
We saw it a few years later and it was a wreck, every panel was dented and the old man all but cried at the sight.
Its too long and complicated a story to explain, but i was conceived on the back seat of that car and it was the first car i remember being in awe of as he kept it in showroom condition.
My nephew and I always said we'd love to get it back and restore it but by the time we reached the age where that was possible it would have long since made its way to the crusher.

We lost Dad almost 3 years ago at the age of 81 and watching this video brought back a lot of memories.

I love it how the old boy picked out the only thing wrong on the entire car the minute he sat in it!

"Where's the interior courtesy light lense son?"

:

Ah, the older generation.

The old girl jumps in the passenger seat @ 4:20 and drops an F-bomb, then covers her mouth.

Memories and passion first, editing later.

I like that one too, that's pretty cool.
Non-car people just don't get it.

Has anyone else seen the Billy Crystal '700 Sundays' movie/standup show?
I love the story he tells about his fathers car and how it gets hit by a mobster and they offer him any car he wants as a replacement, but he insists that he just wants his own car fixed. Definitely worth watching.

I think it is less relevant these days because cars are disposable items that are turned over every couple of years, but back in the day, when a family purchased a new car it was a huge thing and generally it stayed with them for a long time and it became such a huge part of their life and the basis for so many memories.

Haha, yes mate. She was already fixed. Mark was scared that the lens would fall off so we decided to leave it off for the reveal.

We never thought we’d have over 250,000 people watch my video lol.

A friend of mine has just done another video on the car. The link is https://youtu.be/JRn0_U7M5gQ

Cheers
