Awesome review, much better than some of the monkeys that review cars in Australia.

After reading a used car review today about the Kia Carnival, I took particular notice that the 2010-2014 generation had not been ANCAP tested.

One would think that ANCAP would be particularly interested in providing consumers with a rating for this vehicle due to its greater than likely chance of being used for family/child transport.

So on one hand ANCAP targeted the Mustang because it was one of the highest selling vehicles on the market without a rating and a segment leader, on the other hand the Kia wasn't tested despite being a segment leader and a decent seller.

ANCAP have done a great deal over the years in raising awareness in the name of vehicle safety. But the whole organisations credibility is compromised by a lack of consistency and a lack of clear communication with the general public.

As I have said before, "Popular Ford Mustang with 12 month waiting list scores poor 2 star rating" makes for a more newsworthy headline so ANCAP can justify there jobs to the public in the name of consumer advice now that ANCAP is no longer required after the local car industry is over.

This isn't an ancap test but it is based on real world crash analysis data.
Based on that , the Kia carnival 2010 did pretty good..

Just checked on the GT...not yet rated....lol
Nice pics on the site though.

The whole point of the new 2017 standard is that the newer cars needs more kit to get 5 stars.
In the past tests, the majority of cars have 5 stars, so more safety features developed did not increase the star rating in the old standard.
It is a dogs breakfast now and is just going to downgrade the whole point of a star rating system

Safety First: 2018 Mustangs Can See In The Dark

The 2018 Mustang might not be a super car, but it could be a super hero if an obstacle appears in front of it in the dead of night. The wonders never cease. We recently heard that the Mustang is learning Chinese and now it’s been revealed that Ford’s pony car can see in the dark.
The car’s new Pedestrian Detection system (which is a more advanced version of the system detailed in the video below) briskly evaluates data from the car’s bumper-mounted radar and windshield-mounted camera and compares objects in its path against a database of pedestrian shapes to sort people from other objects, such as trees and signs. The camera captures 30 frames per second, even in low-light situations where the headlights provide the only illumination. Once a pedestrian is detected, the driver is first warned by a sound and a visual cue. If the driver doesn’t react quickly enough, the car will apply the brakes on its own.

This new technology will roll out first in the 2018 Mustang and 2018 F-150 in North America. Later this year it will arrive on the next-generation Fiesta in Europe.

“We know some drivers find hitting the road at night a stressful experience. Especially driving in towns and cities, pedestrians — sometimes distracted by mobiles — can without warning step into the road, leaving even alert drivers very little time to avoid an accident,” Gregor Allexi, active safety engineer, Ford of Europe, said. “Day and night, Pedestrian Detection is designed to help identify people already in – or about to step into – the road ahead.”

Great stuff Ford -In an age where people walk around with their face in their phones features like Pedestrian detection could really save lives.

FWIW I have lane departure in the SS....I've turned it off, most annoying feature ever, I consider myself a fairly safe considerate driver....I look where I'm going.

In Australia they should tailor the system to recognise kangaroos and wombats as pedestrians too .

This just shows how corrupt and pointless ANCAP is.

How can they just award a vehicle a 5 star rating without even actually crash testing it. And the base model is also awarded 5 stars despite not having the kind of advanced features that they slammed Ford for not including on the Mustang.

Utter garbage and provides evidence to the notion the Mustang was effectively lamb to the slaughter.

Too right.
Spotted this today - http://www.motoring.com.au/great-wal...lammed-106950/
The Great Wall got a shocking crash test result and limited electric safety nannies yet got the same rating as the Mustang which got a decent crash rating but suffered due to not have the necessary electronic safety devices.
The new NCAP system doesn't give an accurate representation of real world safety in my opinion.
