Default What to do? - new car

Hey guys,

Bought a EF GLi yesterday to get a few parts for my EA (serpentine belt setup and some other little things) and peddle the rest, but now I'm in two minds.

I got it really cheap, and it has got a few mods done to it. These are below;

-Shift kit
-3.45 LSD
-Mild Crow cam
-Crow valve springs
-Lukey Extractors
-High-Flow cat
-2.5" exhaust (nice and quiet though)
-ChipTorque chip

Puts out 130kW @ the treads and runs 15.1 down the quarter "all day long".

Factory options and other mods include

-ABS
-Cruise
-Monroe shocks
-King lows
-16" FTR's
-Tint

I reckon I could get the thing sprayed with in the week cheaply as the body's in fairly good nick and then I'd sell my Mum's VX Berlina, let her have the EL and get some cash for that and then keep this thing then go cruising with Doug

Could probably spray it and have it on the road with gauges on the bonnet and some sick plates for less than $3-$3500.

What do you people think?

Poll me up.

I think you have to much time to find these bargains, you have a talent and it seems to be wasted.

Dealership FTW.

I say transfer the complete driveline over to the EA and run a turbod EF engine. Keep the EL as its a V8 on gas with all the goodies. Strip whats left of the EF eg, wheels, body parts ect..

Woa how on earth did you get 76 votes for get over it lol. its only been open for about 20 mins

Get over them Sunny! Fix your EA for weekend duties and just drive a modern boring car during the week.

I say take what you want and wreck the rest and sell it off in bits.

How much did you pay for the car?

OK...no more beer for Old_Mate :

Check the bonnet, unless its a reflection. Plus red car suck for fading etc, which is a shame because they look nice when mint.

Ive already replied, but hey, I say either part it or "spray 'n' sell". The EA has more personality.

Ha ha, you beat me to the car mate, good stuff!

It looks fairly clean so if you need a daily then fix it - if not, keep what you want and wreck it.

Nice pick-up Sundeep, you have good taste in cars :P

Hmm, it's a tough call what to do. Definately keep the EL, that's no.1. As for the red beast, seems a shame to part it out as it definately has potential and it's newer than the EA, but it's just gonna become another money pit if you start modding it. And you'll whinge it costs too much to run if you keep it as a daily.

I say part it out as you could probably make a fair bit off it, and fix the EA. The EA just needs a bit of TLC and it'll come up brand spankers again. That way you don't have to worry about doin a RWC on it and all that crap.

Bonnet badly faded, sides badly faded, both rear doors have lots of trolley dents and the front bar has a crack near the number plate. Could probably do the bonnet and buff the rest but respray FTW.

Anyways, the car doesn't really owe me much, so depending on how bored I get today I may start stripping the exterior and seeing what it's going to need for paint. Gill and I have a HVLP gun on order, need a filter for the compressor and a couple of other bits and then we're set to spray as well.

It'll be good to learn on if nothing else, and with 2 weeks of holidays left it's a good cure for boredom. If it becomes a too hard basket case then I'll start peddling the parts off it, but it looks like a fairly decent car.

I'll post more pics as I go.

If you chuck it in the too-hard basket, I'd be interested in the cruise kit + loom bit (since mine's non-ABS)

Since I have an eb shell with all sorts of ef futura goodies flating around inside it tell me exactly what the parts are you need and what it'll cost ya ;) and i'll knock a cruise kit together for ya

i have this exact dilemna at the moment.. im halfway through the turbo build up on my EF, but i just bought an NL Fairlane Ghia. its had a lot of work done to it, runs 14.8 1/4s. 3.9 diff gears, pacemaker comps, headwork, billet cam, chiptorque chip, stainless intake its an AU hybrid engine and its got 18s is clean and straight. picked it up reasonably cheap so i dont know whether to take all the good parts off and sell it as a standard car or just use it as a pimpin daily.
