Re: Battery Management System reset.

I enquired if it were actually available on Ford IDS. I asked at 3 Ford dealers which resulted in 1 yes 1 no and 1 maybe, depending on VIN. Thanks to the guys at the service desk for their patience, obviously wearing thin.

I was quoted $140 to plug it in and look.

Does my car require a BMS reset?

After some Googling, at last I think there's an answer:

Where the vehicle is listed as not requiring Yu-Fit, I take it to mean no BMS reset is required.
So not on 2007-2014 but yes on 2015.

Don't be confused with Auto Stop / Start technology.
Most of the above resources relate to Auto Stop / Start tecchnology and as you have already mentioned that has nothing to do with MA - MC Mondeo's as they do not have this technology. The MD is different again as with many other new cars as they have this technology.

In my PREVIOUS VW Passat 125TDI Highline we had to use VCDS to code when I changed the OEM battery for a Varta E39 AGM Stop / Start Battery.

So move on from Century, look for a Silver Calcium battery (as specified from Ford for their Smart Charge Technology) and you will be right!

However at the end of the day, fit whatever battery you want! As long as the car starts - who cares!!!

But for me, that is why I have a Varta Silver Calcium battery in my Mondeo! (just like I do in my Passat - althought it is an AGM Stop / Start battery)!

My apologies.

Since many vehicles listed without stop start still require a reset I concluded that a reset sometimes applies to regulated charge systems and is not required for Mondeo 2007-2014.

By the way, the article on silver calcium batteries contains a contradiction on page 2, where at it is first said silver calcium batteries have high rates and later low rates of self discharge. Ho hum.

They have a higher self discharge rate, which is one of the reasons why many manufacturers have moved to other technologies.
