Ford will do something with it. Like a few of the other last of models. Probably put the money to JDRF.

Yeah and it was a Silver 6 cylinder Fairlane that sold for half of its RRP

What a send off for a long running name plate.

Must pay peanuts because they got monkeys running the show at their marketing department.

Don't be surprised I they stuff it up again. They still haven't decided whether a Falcon or Territory will be last off the production line.
http://www.wheelsmag.com.au/news/151...-sign-off-car/
Shouldn't be a hard decision.

The last two should be an XR6T and an XR8, auction them off and the highest price gets built last.

Wasn't the first Falcon a poverty pack XK? It'd be good to have it come full circle. And it has to be a six, like the first Falcon.

I like the idea of the last build being a povo pack in white or grey, but I think a better representation of the Falcon on 2016 would be a G6ET.

Raising some money for charity is a great thing, but as the last Ford built in Australia it's significance warrants Ford keeping this one in thier collection and allocating to the likes of motoring museum in Geelong (if it's still there), the National Motoring Museum or the Powerhouse Museum so it can be on display.

The last 4.0L Falcon engine may be cast about Jun 2016 I would think, If only that had an open day to show it all off.

They may have some thing like the Last Valiant had done in the boot.

I had thoughts of writing last bastard on the block of the last straight 6, just like what was written in the boot of the last Valiant. From memory bastard was spelt wrong too. Would have been a good homage but I probably won't ever see the last one cause i'm not there anymore.

I would have thought Ford would want to keep the last one in their collection.

Like some have already said, they should go back to the start. Base model with I6 engine.

Then put it on a pedestal outside Parliament House as a reminder of the days when Australia could actually build something.

And back when there was a possibility of it actually making a difference, you wouldn't want an afternoon built car at all - not after the liquid lunch days...

Thankfully they are long gone, and so too the M/F car crap. QA improvements decades ago, along with various automated and/or assisted processes over time greatly increased task consistency & ensured repetitive quality targets would be met.

Hopefully the weeks leading up till the last Falcon they have 300 odd FGX shells sitting around needing to be sold and they do a final GT model just to get rid of them quickly.

It's pretty amusing though, considering the XR8 next year will be reborn with the same spec engine as the FG GT, could you imagine being a HSV owner forking out all that money on a brand new GTS, then pulling up to the lights next to a FH XR8 and then sitting side by side all the way to 100 and beyond
Even more embarrasing would be the lower spec variants of the VF in HSV's stable getting whopped by a factory XR8.

Dont they build to order now.the last falcon ordered will be the last built.
When they auctioned the last monaro for charity they still had a stockpile of them.

No no, let people dream. The amount isn't scheduled and Ford have parts just lying around to maker whatever anyone likes.

They must have about 300 of those V12TTSC motors people keep going on about.
