I've seen this car in the flesh and it's a stunner.
Interesting they talk about the RS2000, the flat front, Cosworth/ BDA cars that were rallied, like the Rothmans replica in the article were the RS1800.

Looks like a 2 door rally pack, I had one 20 years ago but the poor little thing was written off by a lady in a Volvo who didn't like giving way.
I still check them out from time to time, would love to have one as a project.

My brother and I wore out our vhs tape of the 1980 Castrol Forrest Rally - Forty Split Seconds.
About 6 mins in the tarmac sessions start and are great to watch.

My wife had a 4 door GS 2000 escort when I first met her, they are a great rally car, or to flog the guts out of on tight dirt roads.

The hey day of rally driving before the all wheel drive rubbish came.
Datsun 1600 with the 1800B or 2000B engines in them supped up were good as well.

Gemini were good but gutless.

The TC 2.0L Cortina's performed real well for what they were as well.

But out on the highway they were all just rubbish.

BIL just sold three RS2000 bodies and a huge load of bits.

While the basic Ford Six was code named Barra, the Turbo version clearly deserved its very own moniker – again enter Gordon Barfield.
We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about.
“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.

Getting hard to find the Rallye packs now, if you see one grab it.
They're a bit of an unknown in the Escort world, Ford used them to homologate the flat front 1800cc cars to 1998cc when the Group 4 rules changed. A bit of a 'HO' model if you like.
