Note the daytime running lights that will soon be required in Europe - we probably won't get these.

Linky no worky for me. Did anyone happen to save the photos as they appear as though they have been removed or something.

I am getting a message saying 'this page sucks'.

Still works for me. Very strange - it's just a link to a photo on the UK Mondeo site as I couldn't copy the actual image.

Is this the update that's coming this year?
Doesn't look as though there's much change so it could be faster to get to us.
I doubt they will be taking out the daytime running lights, it's easier and cheaper to make it with them, than try to take them out. Australia/NZ are small markets, and I doubt they will be making changes for us here.
More and more cars are coming out with them, even one of the Commodores have them, so I reckon they will be seen on more and more cars, especially as the lights are becoming legislated more in Europe.

Whilst the external changes aren't radical, I understand the all-new engines are big changes with updated diesels and direct-injection petrol engines. The 2.0 litre direct injection petrol engine will be the same engine that is going into the 4 cylinder Falcon so it should radically improve the performance and economy of the petrol Mondeos.

Mondeo will also see the benefits of improved fuel economy and lower emissions, as well as stronger performance, thanks to the new Ford EcoBoost petrol-injection turbo and Ford Duratorq TDCI diesel engines.
The 2010 Mondeo gains the all-new (149kW) 2.0-litre Ford EcoBoost SCTi petrol engine and improved Stage V 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engines with outputs of 84kW, 103kW and 120kW available.
Mondeo will also receive Ford’s new Powershift six-speed twin-clutch automatic transmission system, available as standard with the 2.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine and optionally on all diesel variants.

Those daytime running lights break up the bumper nicely.

Apstar,

This gearbox will be used in most Fords over the next few years, mainly to improve economy. It will be in next year's 4 cylinder Falcon for example. I'm sure it will be in the facelifted Mondeo this year, but who knows what drivetrain combinations will make to NZ and Oz.

Price of course will be an issue but I'd guess that the current 6-speed auto is also an expensive gearbox as it comes from Japan. But a bigger problem for Ford could be supply initially.

I've seen a road test of the C-MAX with the Ecoboost engine and Powershift box, and they were very impressed - rated the box better than the VW DSG. This drivetrain should make a huge difference to the Mondeo.

Might be pushing it for me then, as my lease is up 4 January. Looks like I'll probably get the MB update that's been talked about. Phoonfan from Ethridge here in Ringwood, said that their is a diesel wagon coming out, and that would suit.
I don't really want to wait another 3 months, could do it last time, as we had two cars, not now though.

What does this mean for Mondeo engines in Australia? Does the 2.0-litre Ford EcoBoost SCTi petrol engine replace the current 2.3-litre petrol engine?

If the Zetec range is going to get the 2.0-litre Ford EcoBoost SCTi petrol engine with the new DSG box then it will be a real nice package. This is just what the car needs to make it a great all round package, 149Kw or power and new DSG box should make it a nice drive.

Its all up in the air as far as Oz is concerned, Ford Australia will have a shopping basket and pick what they want but could get messy having different combinations, especially the cost option of the PowerShift Auto which may mean either that or manual, cannot see them continuing with the existing 6 speed auto then again..............

Sounds like they might be using the spare tyre space for the lpg tanks with those capacities. 40L is not much but if it can get >300km it would be a good cost saving, however if you need to refuel more than once a day on a regular basis I could see it getting old.

XtRmn8, I wonder if there might be 2 levels of the Ecoboost engine - one to replace the 2.3 and the other to replace the 2.5T?

The most popular drivetrain in Europe would be the 2.0 TDCi with the 6-speed manual, but we don't even see that here. Conversely, you'd have to look hard to find any used 2.3 petrol autos in Europe.

I'd guess that the Powershift box will replace the auto. But who knows what engines we will get, and how they will be priced.
