Default Lowering Fiesta's

How many people out there have lowered their Fiesta's?
Which springs were used and how much did it lower it?
I've been told about 35mm is the max. you can lower them...
Been quoted $450 supplied and fitted with King Springs...not bad?

I got Eibach's from european-parts.net for around $220. Postage can be a bit a pain so I guess you need to order a few more things to justify the cost. It took a while to install them afterwards because I was too lazy to get round to doing it but I installed the rear pair with dad and got the front ones put in at the local auto mechanic for $110. Lowers around 35mm.

thats sounds an alright price without mucking around with overseas parts and shipping. I have kingsprings under my Mitsubishi Mirage and they have been great. I've had it for about 5 years now and no problems except for having to roll the guards, but I think Fiestas are so flared I don't think you will have that issue.

If you've got an LX, Zetec or Ghia model then the Kings are fine but they are not suitable for the XR4 as the 2 litre motor is heavier, if you have an XR4 the best bet would be the Eibach Springs from Euro Parts.

It's pretty simple, put it this way.

Eibach Pro-Kit Springs (AU$280 incl. shipping) + install (AU$150) = $430
King Springs + install = $450 (based on your quote)

Eibach > King Springs.

I'd get the better product for a bit less, thank you.

EDIT :- $280 incl shipping is a few yrs ago. Now that the dollar is strong, it'd be a bit less. So... I'd get the better product for a bit less, thank you.

I dont kno about the eibachs, but i fitted king springs to my fiesta, and havent had any issues with them. They look great and the ride is awesome. Just my opinion.

The springs designed for the ST/XR4 will "of course" support the lighter 1.6 motor but remember Eibach also make lowered springs specifically designed for the 1.6 models as well.

cool thanks for the info guys, and the pics! the quote i got of $450 was from profix and includes the springs and fitting, with either king springs or pedders. (Pedders quoted $690 fitted!)

Profix also quoted me $240 for a cat back 2" sports exhaust fitted so i'm going to get that done at the same time, that'll make the festy a bit more fiery...

Yeh. I'm just saying that cos if you notice, in european-parts.net, the Eibachs for Zetec S is a bit more expensive than the ones for Fiesta ST. So if the Eibachs for the Fiesta ST works for the 1.6L, then why buy the more expensive Eibachs.

Howdy boys and girls....i don't know alot about car suspension, but, just wondered about the lowering. If you jacked the car up, do the springs slip out? I had a different make car and lowered it and when i jacked it up to change a tyre etc, the springs would come out because they were shorter.....if you know what i mean. Does this happen to the fiesta

Now that is scary!!.....Scareybear......it was my old VB and i had Lovells put on. Pardon the pun, but, it was a pain in the rear end so to speak but it handled well.

just looking at some Eibachs from uk ebay seller,
They are used (will only buy if i get them dirt cheap).

Description says they're off an 08' plated ST but they differ slightly from the Eibach pics on european-parts.

will they fit my 04' zetec fine? any help would be awesome.

Get the guy in the UK to tell you what the all the writing on the springs says - that will be the best clue as to what they are. Someone here with an XR4 / ST will tell you waht theirs say to compare. As you say they certainly don't look quite right.

If I were you I'd just shop around local Eibach distributors for a good deal on supply & fit. It may cost you a bit more but it will be a simple, quick and stress-free exercise. You won't regret it.

Personally I think pretty much all springs / shocks from OEMs will be biased toward a softer ride rather than sharper handling. Aftermarket springs only exist because the OEM ones don't satisfy those of us who like to drive and are prepared to fork out for a good product.

This is true. I'll message him and see. Might just go with euro-parts as its been tried and tested. Aussie dollar isn't too bad against euro. Plus taxman is giving me my coin back prob next week. I was thinking about going for the zetec s springs from european-parts instead of st springs. reason being perhaps they are more suited too lighter engine therefore will be less harsh of a ride maybe?... Although they could be the same??? Thanks for replies.

Just so you know: I paid -€199.50 EUR for Fiesta S Eibach Prokit from Europarts in February. That included the quick delivery option. Converted to AU$332 at the time.

Unless you have a pretty good tool kit and reasonable mechanical ability, I suggest you get someone else to install them. Fitting the rears is a doddle. The fronts will lead to a world of pain if realise you are in over your head or don't have the right gear half way through the job.

had a look now at the zetec s springs, 129 Euro (add shipping).

about $209 aussie (add shipping) both on European-Parts.

probs won't intall myself, get it done somewhere.

i'm guessing if took me the better part of a day to install a body-kit, then springs are a bit much. cheers

G'Day,

We had Advantage suspension in Moorabbin come and speak at our meeting on Tuesday night - he said it was just under $800 suppied and fitted (Eibachs) for my XR4.

He also metioned coil overs (Tien) were not far away............... didn't talk dollars

hey mate well id rather the top springs, they will be abit stiffer altho your guarranted for them not to rub because of the way its coiled.

$800? Hmmm.... try AU$430 (Eibach Pro-Kit Springs + shipping + install).
