Default Water output adapter

Howdy folks!!
Had a leak in my Ford Focus causing it to lose water and overheat.
Took it to the local Ford dealer and got charged 60 for diagnosing where the leak is!! Apparently it's a water output adapter and the price to put a new one is $900
Is that a reasonable price??
Has anyone changed one before themselves and are there a lot of parts to remove to get to it!!
Had a quick look and it seems to be in an skewed and hard to reach position
P.s car is 2008 Ford Focus lt lx hatchback

At $900 best take a week off work and fit it yourself. Not only do you sort of get paid to stay home but you also get some mechanical knowledge.

I could be wrong but I reckon the cost of the job is in the part. It is an aluminium part that bolts directly to the head, on the passenger side, right next to the EGR valve. You must be unlucky - I've never heard of one leaking or one that needed replacing. How the hell it would leak, I don't know, unless the gasket between it and the head is shot from overheating.

I took it into another mechanic and he said it shouldn't take more than a couple of hours to fix and roughly gave a price of 300-400 and said that w was on the high end of the scale!
It's booked in for Tuesday so I'll see how he goes!!
He mentioned that it was either a gasket or a crack which he said they can weld up
