to get around it just do what they did in f1 a few years ago
have "came" just as camel did in caps
the "l" in lowercase
and a very small st down at the bottom of the "l"

it will read "came1st"

not advertising anything then

Hmmm... Yes, the connotations might send the wrong message
And if the "powers that be" give you grief over the large "CAMEL" elsewhere on the car... you could always put a small "thirsty" near the "C" and say you like that drive in bottle'o chain !!??

interesting posts about the issues around advertising smokes
when my son was about 7 i brought a large radio controlled F1 toy car which he still has
its a ferrari and at a glace it looks normal but on closer inspection they have made subtle changes to the decals so as to avoid paying royalties I suppose
shifty, those chineese
I should take a pic & post it

yes it's an interesting subject, the only place Camel Filters is referenced is on the front bumper so I am cool leaving it off if I have to. Everywhere else it just says Camel so it should be ok.

What I struggle with is the wiping or re writiing of history for the sake of political correctness and government meddling. Smoking and drinking unlike other substances is not illegal, so why wipe history?

going by the biante cars, i would think that leaving the camel filters off the bumper is a waste of time unless you leave camel off the guards too

i would think you would be okay even with the original advertising (besides if they don't like it just peel it off ). it isn't like the car is plastered with camel - there are only 3 small references to it and the average person wouldn't know anyway. most coppers wouldn't care and would be more impressed by the car itself - and like with our big wheels on the road, if you are polite to them and are not being an idiot most would let it go, even if technically illegal

The car will never be registered, it's pure race car. I'm not worried about the Camel on guards and bonnet as there is no reference to the cig brand. Camel could be anything. It's only Camel Filters on the bumper that may be an issue and like I said previously I'm cool with leaving it off. As you say only diehards would notice.

How about "CXXXL FILTERS"? In same size, same colour, I think most would get the gist of it.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers Rob.

Might work Rob

Had a good day today. List of stuff got a lot shorter. Biggest problem now is oil pressure it falls when the engine revs rise. It wasn't like that when it was run without the cooler so I think it's the eBay purchased adapter. Going to buy a Aeroflow adapter Monday and if that doesn't fix it I'll run it without a cooler at Sandown.

Cheers. Graeme

I reckon just go with the original Camel Filters and wait to see if you get any hassles from any Nanny State operatives.

There's always Camel Toe...... if you really want a reaction.....

The Bowdens run Brocks A9X in full livery.

Without sounding rude, I cant belive this topic is even been discussed.
Why would you go to all this trouble & not do a proper job!

Put them on.
The do-gooders won't be at the race track anyway. They'll be sipping overpriced coffee at a poor excuse for a cafe'.

Just my thoughts.

Hi Folks An update on the car. Got the car more or less finished and ran it today in practice for historic Sandown. The car had a couple of minor teething issues but all in all the car went well. I will post pics after the weekend.

I owe, Dean, Pete, Tas and Craig a massive thank you. The car looks incredible on the track. Hopefully the rest of the weekend will go as smooth as today.

Thanks Craig

We went 5 seconds faster from Friday to Sat practice and there's a lot more in it. We only lasted 1 timed lap Sunday as she got a bit hot, but we proved it's a good base to work from and apart from some teething problems that I could never forsee it all went well. All the folks from the Ford Coupe Club involved with all 3 cars in regularity, (and we must not forget Tom's good weekend as well),should pat themselves on the back for putting on a great effort and coming together as mates . There were a coupe of struggles with 2 of the cars but we came together and made things work.

Cheers Graeme

Thanks guys, now the stress of getting it there is starting to settle I am now starting to enjoy the memories created on the weekend. I didn't really get to enjoy my time with Mr Moffat as we had an electrical gremlin that wouldn't allow the car to start. Hopefully we can bring him and the car together again somewhere down the track. I should also thank Rod Barrett for bringing him over. Much appreciated.

As I said earlier, (and it is worth repeating), the friends I have found in the Ford Coupe Club are fantastic people that are a privilage and a pleasure to be around. Even at my most stressed recently they dug in to help and made sure I got all I could out of the car and weekend. Thanks folks!

Cheers Graeme
