Why does this thread still exist?

Or more to the point, OP, have you bought the crate engine yet?

I think it's actually a good thread if for nothing else to circulate ideas of engine transplants. I saw an LS2 turbo shoehorned into a corolla KE30. Very cool. An open mind works wonders..

LS would be a good powerplant. No doubt a car with one already in it is almost unbeatable BFYB. But for a car that doesnt have the engine in it and wasnt built for it the cost benefit is different. For that coin and to save the hassle of an engine transplant the Windsor could be modded a fair bit.
Stronger Block- $2500-3000
Supercharger kit $5-6000
If you were prepared to shop around/get stuff from the US a quick Windsor is possible.

Will be interesting to see what the OP decides on doing.

I honestly don't see what the issue is with putting an LSx into an AU.

Still going through my options..... LS conversion, raptor s/charger, stroke the engine or a kenne belle.... Need to take in account of cost, time car will be off road, reasonable money spent on mods (bang for buck) i obviously wont put the LS in if the ecu side of things will keep the car off road for months and cost heaps...

A likely setup ill go with is a new heads, cam, manifold and raptor s/c setup.... but thats for another thread....

Thanks everyone for there thoughts!

Definetly wanna put an LS in an AU one day though!

Not Whoosha's but it is going to a very good and worthy home. I didn't actually think it had come that far already, but then again the owner of it does not stuff around.

As for 7k to put in an LSx or do work to a Windsor, there is no comparison. Unfortunately the LS would have more power everywhere for those dollars.

Why not just Sell the AU for a good $ & Pick-up a good condition VX or VXII SS?

Saves all the stuffing about for the same result and with the money you save gets the Cam thrown in it + Bolt-on's.

When I bought my AU XR8 is was outta the AU or a VX SS.... I chose the XR8 cos im a Ford man... Unfortunately im a Ford man who likes to go fast and mod.... The VX woulda been a easy car to mod, my mate has one... But i love my AU....I just love AU's in general...... Or should i say "The general in AU's" :

As much as an LS1 would be cool to have in an AU, i couldnt buy a VX SS... Maybe a clubby, which im considering now.... But i think my little windsor may be getting a workout in the near future...

If you were born after 1980, I would understand a comment like that. The old Holden Vs Ford rivalry was so strong you would cop it for using 9''diffs in Holden street cars. These days, car companies use other brands parts rather than make their own purely due to costs. I think that is the reason the rivalry doesn't run as deep with newer generations. Think bowties on commodores.

Even more so these days (that post you quoted was from 2009 fyi), I still stand by that comment. I'm as Ford as you can get, but cheap power is cheap power, something I am not familiar with when it comes to my Windsor boat anchor.

These days you'd do a miami conversion, surely?!
