Other than fuel comsumption, how did the eb outperform the six? The ones I've driven, whilst nice to drive were still noticeably slower than the six.

performance was about par. I was with a group at the proving ground and the best time came from the ecoboost. I believe even the lpg got better time than the petrol.

official figures have them about par. it handles better and drinks less fuel and is the same spec in every other way, so technically a better package.

Diesels are trucks, rangers are trucks. Why do people think they need these type of vehicles.

Rangers. Are. Not. Trucks! Despite what Seppoland wants to call them.

will have to agree to disagree there.

Driving them I n real world driving there is a noticeable difference Imo.

I can only assume ranger using the same ethos would be a similar outcome.

I'd still love to see the 10 speed on the 3.2 and see a side by side test against the 2.0.

The power levels are so close a cynic would suggest the gains are from the gearbox rather than the motor.

Better in every way yet people still bought the other engine.
Maybe people would be more accepting in 2018.

People buy them because they want them and suit their needs.

Rangers are utes or pickups as a worst case senario. A Mack or a Kenworth is a truck.

I wouldn't hold my breath....

If there was a snowball's chance in hell of selling petrol V6s, then Toyota would be all over it,
the reason no one sells them is because of lack of buyer interest.

There is a Raptor available in Mildura if anyone is looking for one. They have sold 4 of their 5 allocated. There were also 3 in stock in Griffith but I'm not sure if they were sold.

To be fair, that was more an internal thing. By the time that EcoBoost engine landed in Australia from the other side of the world, it was cheaper to keep building Falcon's with the good old inline 6.

Internally, Ford were gutted when Govco gave the EB Falcon less efficiency stars than Camry,
they kind of gave up after that, probably why we never ever saw a single TV ad for Ecoboost.

The other day when you began revealing where Ranger Raptors were, I counted 16 Ads on carsales.com.au.
Now, I know that Carsales may not be accurate but they are now showing only seven....

Maybe they're hiding them from you...

Saw a white one yesterday. What really stood out was how smooth and quiet the engine was.
I own a mix of 3.2l Rangers and 2l Amaroks that I’ve been using as company cars, this new Ranger however is significantly quieter at start up and at idle.

If someone presents me with a vegan burger and tells me it’s just as good as a proper meat burger, I don’t care, i won’t like it without even trying it. I want some goddamn dead animal on my plate!

I apply the same logic to battery powered cars, Korean sports cars and small capacity high output engines.

If we accept the vegan burger, it’ll become the new standard and they won’t offer meat in future.

this isn't really an accurate analogy. they aren't offering you a vegan burger. they are offering you a double meat burger. you just won't accept it because you thought it was going to be a triple meat burger....

more power, more torque, better economy and can go more places. whats the problem?

oh wait, the traffic light grand prix...
