what a shame. bit of a tease just showing the outside and then nothing else. Could lose potential sales to opposition with this. I know it would put me off especially if I was excited to see the Mondeo alone.

No surprise there, Genk has been under a cloud for years, Ford has too many high capacity plants in Europe that are nowhere near individual capacity. They should allocate CD4 production to one of the assembly plants in the Asia Pacific region so that markets in this part of the world can get supplies on demand instead of being at the mercy of european market forces.

With the announcements in Beligium and the need to move to Spain, I would be suprised if we see the new Mondeo in 2013. I think this just became a 2014 Mondeo thread !!

Ford really amazes me!
Quote:
So the Mondeo will need this facelift to work through new generations of Mazda 6 and Toyota Camry, as well as next year’s Holden Malibu. The MC update furnished the generation with state-of-the-art safety technology including driver alert, lane departure warning and a blind spot information system, in addition to offering a new turbo engine, all signified by ‘refreshed’ styling.

Sorry, but I don't understand - what amazes you? Is it the delayed release of the new Mondeo?

At any rate, the review you've linked has an error in the opening sentence: "The current Ford Mondeo was released in late 2010 as a facelift of the MC-generation that launched in 2007."

The fourth generation Mondeo has been on sale since 2007, but that started with the MA series (not the MC). I think the writer needs to check the Ford Forums.

It amazes me because Ford has done a Mark II version on the quite for the MC and has added nothing to the car! the article said FACELIFT and as Ford doesn't talk to me directly I assume that article is correct if that's a facelift then I'll bend over and take it up the...........

Why at least no new touch screen console?

Thanks for clearing that up, but I don't think there has been any facelift for the MC Mondeo - I think the facelift the writer refers to is the MC series that was released in November 2010. As I pointed out earlier, the writer doesn't seem to realise that the Mk.4 Mondeo generation started with the MA and MB.

I suspect the writer refers to "this facelift" because
a) he doesn't realise that the MC Mondeo actually came out in November 2010; and/or,
b) only just got a test car and wants the review to seem more relevant.

If you take a very close look at the video snippets for the 2014 Falcon is there some resemblence to the front end of the 2013 Mondeo?

Any updates on timing for Oz?
There are the new Ford Fusions already driving around in the US.
We need it ASAP. Awesome looking car.

The Mondeo supply for Australia comes from Genk (Belgium). Before Christmas Ford announced that they are closing Genk and moving production to Valencia (Spain), but that this will not happen until Late 2014. There is other news that Genk has been closed down ever since and they are expected to start production soon.

Just Google Ford Genk and you find lots to read

The above disappointing news is confirmed here in Europe with late 2014 being the release date of the new Mondeo hatch and 2015 for the wagon.
In the meantime Ford will release updates of the current model under name of entry level Graphite and top end Titanium X models. The 2ltr TDCi will get a revamp and better economy.
See specs on link: http://www.carpages.co.uk/ford/ford-mondeo-16-04-13.asp
Lots of other info on web as well including Shanghai motor show announcements.
Looks like I will only get a peak at the new model when I come back to Oz after my Europe contract is up.

Looks like I will be extending my lease for an extra year at least, maybe I will fit a GPS/reverse camara unit as looks to be the only significant non-cosmetic equipment difference between MBXR5 and Titanium X, which I expect will come to Australia in a down spec format anyway. Didn't want to spend the money on GPS for a short period of use but looks like at least 18 months if not 2 years away now before we see the Fusion.

Was quoted $1400 fitted plus I had to supply the camera to replace the number plate light unit. Can get cheaper on e bay but unsure if Asian supplied units would be as reliable. The cost was why I held off but looks like I will get 2 years out of it and might help resale value? The unit is available in piano black and same shape front panel as the sony unit so is a good match for the existing dash, no need for double din adaptor.

Why AWD?
Subaru now realise that the tide has turned and are now trending back to FWD to catch the more rational trend to fuel efficiency over their previous overhyped claims of 'performance' advantage.
What % of the population has to negotiate a v steep muddy driveway or compete on a wet racetrack?

Give me an EcoLpi Fusion FWD any day you like, forget the 'clumsy' AWD.

Well done on getting some snaps Allan. It's good to get some photographic evidence. Usually when some one says they spotted something like this, they never manage to get good close ups.
