Default au falcon boot light

hey,

so basically my boot light stopped working today. the only time the boot light works is when i ground it to the car body but this means it doesn't turn off with the boot latch. the only thing i can think of is that the vibration from the subs has broken the latch. any suggestions on how to fix this would be great!

cheers

I've never looked at one but I assume they work on earth only, hence when you ground it to the body it works, so pull the wire off the button and clean it and the body it touches with sandpapaer or steel wool to give it a good earth.
Also make sure the button is working and not jamming, as in spray it or oil it to free it up.

you're right they are earth only. i've got no idea where the actual button is, i assume in the lock bit. (confirm??) anybody that can point me in the right direction would be great help, i was even thinking about taking the parcel shelf off and looking at the wiring, but i doubt its the wiring

Again assuming, I believe you will find the button somewhere around the hinges.

fixed it. turns out it wasn't the latch at all. the cables near the boot hinge got crushed by it and cut most of them, re-soldered and all fixed !

cheers

Has anyone else had any luck resolving this issue?

The the OP’s, my boot lamp will not turn on unless earthed to the body. Can’t seem to find the switch either.

Had replaced the lock mechanism on the bootlid side to no avail...

Any ideas?
