Wont drop straight in. It may be possible with some mucking around, but these jobs always turn out harder than they first look!

Smally351 is right on the money. There is no point putting a Telstar engine in your KC when the B6 engines cost pittens ($200ish) and do not require modification.

People forget that it's not just fitting an engine. You then have to get *every* thing to match up, and then the real *****, the wiring.

Yeah thats kinda helpful, thanks guys..

I realise that the engines cost bugga all, this one is free and upgrading to a 5sp rather than the 4 is an added bonus, I really just don't wanna pull it all apart and find that its gonna be one of those 6wk nightmares to get back together.. haha

My spider sense is telling me.. The word customised will used a lot if you go through with this.

ok VippiN, what does your spider sense say about a Meteor engine..

I made a bit of a stuff up, it was never a bloody Telstar motor, brain couldn't remember that it was actually a Meteor engine..

I want to replace the 1.3 4sp Laser engine with a 1.5 Meteor 5sp engine..

Will this work, without *too many* customised/modified accessories..??

Is the meteor pre-86?? I'm guessing it is as you mentioned it was the 1.5, same as the KB Laser. AFAIK, the meteor and laser use the same motor, just differences in the body. Not too sure on the KB-KC swap, due to emission changes in '86.

Thanks rag top,

that will be handy too.. i have to say I am not sure of the year/model, though I am running the '86 without the emmision.. the car really 'shat its self' when I took out the plug, so am running it without emmision control hoses..

main concern is that the engine mounts and extrators and such.. I just want to make sure that the engine will all fall into place, once the old one is removed..

OK - This SHOULD be fine. As far as I can tell you're going from an E3 to E5 which uses same mounts, wiring, gearbox, everything should be a straight swap and bolt in fine.

Now I could be wrong as it's a KC and I haven't checked out the 1.3L that were in them (personally I always steered clear of em) but i've never heard of a B3. B6 was always the norm as far as I knew in the KC.

Either way the gearbox will interchange. That I know for sure. What you need to look at is the mounts and the wiring loom. See if it's much different if any. Just be careful before you start.

So you've got a 1.3L KB Laser and you want to put in a 1.5L? If it's an E5 yes it will attach to the gearbox, if it's a B5 it won't. All depends on if it's from a KA/KB or a KC.

Yes you can remove the engine without having to remove the gearbox, i split the engine from the gearbox inside the engine bay removed the single engine mount and she came straight out.
Thanks for the help.
